I like cobwebs. So when I saw one hanging off the gate this morning as we were setting out for our kayak on the river (like a glass millpond), I couldn't resist

Barely survived a recent storm

I was elated to even spot this teeny tiny adult female cobweb weaver, Neospintharus trigonum, and her strange egg sac, under a rock overhang on the nature trail at Giant City State Park, Illinois, USA, October 12, 2023.

This Long Tailed Tit was collecting cobwebs from under a streetlight cover.
