W H E A L - C O A T E S - [ICM]

Now for something completely different (for me!), Away with the tripod and striving for sharp images - here's some ICM!

After coming across the ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) work of Andrew Gray on Thomas Heaton's YouTube channel last Monday, I was immediately inspired by impressionist painting appearance of his masterpieces.

I had done the odd seaside sweep to capture the layers of colours looking out to sea before, but Andrews work has much more to it than that.

So, yesterday after work, I went Wheal Coates at St Agnes point to try it myself. I was greeted with thick sea mist. Whether that was a help or a hindrance remains to be seen as I explore this type of photography more.

I soon found that there is much more to this than waving the camera around with an open shutter! The length of time the camera points at a certain spot, the direction of the movement, exposure time and of course the subject all play a massive part in the final outcome. Hence the "Intentional" component of the ICM acronym I guess!

Anyway, I'd be keen to hear what you think for my first attempt. I plan to explore this method much more - especially as Thomas Heaton mentioned that this kind of photography can be done effectively at any time of day (not just during or shortly after sunrise which is my favourite time of day for photography)!

We came across the Changing of the Queen's Life Guard at Horse Guards Parade, London SW1.

The Queen's Life Guard is provided by the Household Cavalry's mounted regiment which consists of a Squadron of The Life Guards, who wear red tunics and white plumed helmets, and a Squadron of The Blues and Royals (also known as the Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons) with blue tunics and red plumed helmets.

The term "Household" in Household Cavalry refers to the Royal Household, as they are the Monarch's official bodyguards. They are called King's Guard and King's Life Guard when the reigning monarch is a King.

There's a rule in photography "when you see red shoot it" but lately I've noticed a lot of good yellow possibilities. After walking along Park Avenue and seeing all those yellow sculptures this woman walks by wearing a bright yellow coat, with that cat on the back, sequined sleeves, green handbag, boots and a hat how could I resist.

Best raincoat style ever! Love to have it!

well technically it's a pine tree and not a fir tree but the pun title wouldn't work well if I called it pine coat 😊

I got this gorgeous Parka in the mail today. I've been on the hunt for a Parka that didn't use real animal fur for ages and I've had 0 luck. Ideally i've wanted one in SD but when I saw this pop up on etsy for Minifee I had to grab it anyway. The seller also sent an adorable little knitted cushion and packaged it in a miniature shopping bag. Super cute!

This is the seller for anyone interested. I recommend them. Its the second time I've bought from them now.

I really need to make Brixton a wig T_T

It was one of those mornings when you are glad you made the decision to drag yourself out of bed and capture the sunrise over Sydney Harbour.

On the wall someone had written

"coat hook NEEDED"

to which someone had replied

"NOT OUR no 1 PRIORITY, MATE"

to which another reply had been added

"No 1 PRIORITY - SKIVING"

so I guess this is when someone drew the coat hook.

It made me laugh for some reason.

I just love fur coats
