WHITE BEACH NAVAL FACILITY, OKINAWA, Japan – Marines with Combat Logistics Regiment 3 secure fork lifts, tractor rubber-tire articulated steer multipurpose vehicles, and supplies sits in the well deck of the USS Tortuga Nov. 18. More than 200 Marines from 3rd Marine Logistics Group embarked the Tortuga to depart for Thailand to provide flood recovery assistance to the Government of Thailand. LAEM CHABANG, Thailand – A 7-ton medium tactical vehicle replacement, belonging to Combat Logistics Regiment 3, is lifted out of the well deck of the USS Tortuga and placed on the pier here Nov. 28. Several 7-tons, tractor rubber-tire articulated steer multipurpose vehicles, water pumps and equipment were staged on the pier where the Tortuga has been docked to be used by Marines from CLR-3 and 9th Engineer Support Battalion who will be working with the Royal Thai Air Force to conduct water removal operations at the Don Muang Airfield in Bangkok. Marines, along with other hikers, begin the descent down Mount Fuji, Japan, July 20. The purpose of the hike was to build camaraderie and unit cohesion as a final event of the Fuji Warrior training exercise, a two-week intensive combat and weapons familiarization training evolution. Each year, approximately 300,000 people hike Mount Fuji between the months of July and August, the only time the volcano is not completely covered with snow and is most suitable for hiking conditions. Mount Fuji stands an impressive 12,388 feet above sea level at its highest point. The Marines are with CLR-35 and 37, 3rd MLG, III MEF.
