The new waterfront walkway is great for views.
I saw the road sign on my way from Flagstaff to New Mexico and I pulled off the 40 on to the old Route 66 and into Winslow Arizona - and yes I found the 'corner' and yes I sang the song to myself - trying to change the words from 'its a girl my lord in a flatbed ford ' to 'its a girl my lord in a white mustang' - did not quite work.
Loved Winslow - its got such atmosphere . I decided to stay in the old railway hotel built in 1930 - La Posada - wow, you have to go - one of the last great railway hotels designed by Mary Jane Colter where everyone from movie stars to cowboys used to stay as everybody would stop at Winslow either on the train or for a fuel stop on the old airplanes on the way to LA. The hotel was right next to the railway - mostly commerical trains now - so walked out from the lobby onto the tracks and to the most beautiful sunset. It has been lovingly restored and one of the coolest places you will ever stay.

Under construction.

The walkway is planned to be open later in 2024.
