The view over 'back of Skiddaw' from skiddaw summit.

Some big sky going on here ..helped by Skiddaw being the Fourth highest mountain in the Lake District (at 3054ft) and being positioned on the outside edge of the high stuff it manages to feel even higher than it is when looking North .

I keep saying it but this really is worth a look on black .even full screen perhaps!

Don't often get up the Mountain Road, far less stop there, but these clouds looked too good to miss.

Almost like a fantastical landscape rising above the common.

During sunsets, most of us are usually focused westward and watching the sun dip over the sea, the mountains, a lake

or some other lovely setting. Yet we often forget to look up or behind us - and sometimes - the most lovely reflections

are not where we expect to find them! Moreover, I have learned that without clouds - sunsets lose some of their stunning

color. Perhaps that is true of life as well.... Enjoy this cloudscape - which occurred this evening -after a brief and mild thunderstorm.

The gradations of light were incredibly lovely!

This week, Iris and I visited the "Vliehors", the westernmost part of the Wadden Isle of Vlieland. We had great cloudy weather!

Dramatic clouds over the hills. Originally I intended the photo to

be in Black and White but the colours were too intense to be ignored.

Somewhere over the north sea, altitude approximately 10,000 metres.
