Stunning scene after brief heavy rain on August 11, 2019. Taken near Santa Fe, NM. Canon 350D, 50mm f/1.8 STM lens
Rapidly changing multi-layered overcast. Low sun angle help enhance cloud structure as was the case this morning.
"Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way..."
--Joni Mitchell
I've been waiting literally a long time in 2020 for cumulus clouds to appear. When I finally seen them for the first time of the year, they were not the most dramatic forms that I've ever seen but beautiful regardless of the fact. Cloud development is a good opportunity to create a project, whether it's a collage of photos taken at various time intervals to show cloud evolution over time, or (for example), long exposure. Summertime storms can be a little exciting here in Michigan, but rarely if ever make for a particularly eventful weather day. Despite what others might think, setting the CPL to the most extreme setting is personally positive to me; the stark contrast between tones is aesthetically pleasing to me and that is my type of style.
June 3, 2013 - Kearney Nebraska US
