Kids come out to check out the visitors in Auki Harbour. Loved the mix of hair colour and they were so relaxed in their play away from hovering parents.
We thought we'd go down to see it closer since the tide is out but the wind was so cold will have to do it in a warmer month with hiking boots :D

Lin and Larry Pardey's engineless cruiser at Kawau Island while they were back in the US. The design is I think a Lyle Hess take on the pilot-cutter theme and the thing on the backstay looking like a 2-handed saw will be a windvane turning a trim-tab on the rudder.
It feels like there should be a film crew here permanently - they did use it for the "Mutiny on the Bounty" film starring Marlon Brando and Trevor Howard.
Petroglyphs of the birdman cult. The first man of the season to swim out to Motu Nui (seen just offshore) and get an egg became king for a year. This was the culture of the 'short ear' people who were the workers for the'long ears' who wanted the big statues. When the trees ran out revolution was inevitable with the 'short ears' knocking down the statues. This is all supposition with the locals knowing no more than anyone else.
Willi with his orange yacht Willwaw at Puerto William (Tierra del Fuego). If you like old sailing books (K1) try his "North-West Passage".

Cloud Nine balloon ride over the Las Vegas Strip. (The ride, now kaput, was destroyed by high winds).
These soft-sole baby shoes will be perfect for your little one or they make a great, unique gift for someone special.
Handmade from 100% cotton, these shoes will be so soft on your baby's feet. An elastic back will keep this shoe securely on.
These shoes are made with Moda sock monkey fabric, lined with a brown and white stripe, and feature an organic canvas sole.
There are no exposed seams on any of my shoes. I take extra care in offering you a pair of shoes that your baby can wear until they will fit no longer. Closed seams also offers a more comfy fit for your child.
See my profile for details.
Back in 2016, I went up to Derby Market Place to take pictures of the new buses for "The Nines", which have been available to ride since January 2017.
The Nines is split into two different routes from Mansfield to Derby:
9.1 - Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, East Midlands Designer Outlet, South Normanton, Alfreton, Swanwick, Ripley, Kilburn and non-stop down to Derby along the A38;
9.3 - Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Pinxton, South Normanton, Alfreton, Ripley, Kilburn and non-stop down to Derby along the A38.
Previously, The Nines was initially known as the 90 family, with 9.1 and 9.3 originally known as 91 and 93 respectively - there were also seven more routes for the 90 family:
92 - Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, East Midlands Designer Outlet, South Normanton, Alfreton, Swanwick, Ripley, Kilburn, Little Eaton, Coxbench and Derby (withdrawn as of May 2016);
94 - Alfreton, South Normanton, Huthwaite, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Mansfield;
95 - Chesterfield, Hasland, Tibshelf, Alfreton, South Normanton, Newton, Huthwaite, Sutton-in-Ashfield and Mansfield;
96 - Alfreton and Chesterfield;
97 - Alfreton, Shirland, Morton, Clay Cross, Tupton and Chesterfield;
98 - Alfreton, Clay Cross and Tupton;
99 - Alfreton and Somercotes.
Back then, the Nines never advertised its frequency of how often its buses run. Now I know that this route now runs every 15 minutes combined, with each route at 30-minute intervals.
The Nines even have a 90 route, serving Sutton-in-Ashfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Selston and Ripley.

Having driven probably about a thousand kilometers in the span of thirty-six hours led to the unanimous group decision to learn how to surf and to bum around the beach for the two days we would be in Siargao. I casually mentioned the Bucas Grande Island and the Sohoton Caves, reachable only during low tide since the only entrance to the island closes up with the rising waters, hopeful that my friends would find their wanderlust’s second wind, but to no avail.
