Amid all of the Common and Orange sulphurs at Tinicum today, I found this Cloudless Giant Sulphur (Phoebis sennae).

It was finally a day off after lots of work, and a nice day of walking the dogs, birding (1 new species) and this butterfly.

near Aduana Arroyo, just downstream of Alamos, Sonora, Mexico.

In my butterfly garden in Toms River, New Jersey 9-23-19. Waystation number 11567

Phoebis sennae. It was quite large, full wingspan maybe 9 cm. Observed at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, MO.

Found in Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, near Houston, Texas, USA.

My guess is Cloudless Sulphur - Phoebis sennae

Observing a pleasant, cloudless Valentine's Day sunset over the city tonight. Have a nice Valentine's Day, everyone! Despite the nice and mild weather we were having, we are in danger of returning to a drought... Pics taken from around San Jose, CA from up at The Point Church. Weather update:

A low pressure trough & frontal system were over western Canada. This system had dropped southeastward with the southern end brushing Northern California this day. Today, we saw cloudy to partly cloudy skies around the Bay Area. By Thursday thru Saturday, the high pressure ridge was forecast to move a little closer to the coast. The north state was to be mostly clear with above normal daytime temps with breezy northerly winds. Where's all the winter rains lately? February has been bone-dry so far... The longer range models hint a wetter pattern toward the end of the month, hopefully.

I've taken lots of butterfly pictures in the last few months. The little yellow ones fly so fast and so eratic, its difficult to get a good shot. At Playcard Swamp, I found these two waiting patiemtly on the edge of the swamp. Later I read that they sometimes land on the ground to lick some salt. (Phoebis sennae)

They aren't the same species of sulphur, but the smaller one briefly checked out the cloudless one.

Adult upperside of male wings lemon yellow or pale greenish-yellow with no markings; female forewing with small dark spot, usually a narrow blackish outer margin, and a few vague dark dots near tip. Underside of hindwing with two silver black-rimmed spots in both sexes.
