I loved seeing these powdery clouds recently, against the brilliant blue winter sky.

Possibly altocumulus, although I read that cirrocumulus (higher altitude, but rarer) comes usually in rows as seen here.

A nice sunset along the road.

Seen in North Wales. Looking from Llandudno West Shore towards Dwygyfylchi. The storm clouds were gathering overhead and the sand was being whipped up by the wind.

The cloud formation was amazing. I took this through the windscreen of my car (as a passenger).

When I looked at the photo in detail I saw the plane trails flying into the cloud. All the more amazing as flight were still restricted from the UK

Thank you to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated.

Blue on the Cariboo - A welcomed break in the cloudy overcast

Bridge Lake (historically known as Greater Fish Lake) is a lake in the Interlakes District of the South Cariboo region of the Interior of British Columbia, Canada.

The lake contains rainbow trout, kokanee, lake char and burbot, eagerly sought by anglers.

Thank-you for all the overwhelming support and many friendships.

This is was what greeted me on my early 10km run this morning. The running part became incidental. :)

Looking forward to the longer days!

Maybe it's just my imagination but the cloud formations on the right that appear to be sitting just under the mountainous region of the island look like animals seen frequently on St. Thomas. Going from left to right 1) turtle 2) iguana (or lizard) and 3) chicken. LOL

Waiting on the fireworks!

Took a taxi and rushed to Magsaysay Park, Davao City to capture this sunset.

This is Gold Hill, Shaftesbury. A true glimpse in to the past across the English county of Dorset. You can imagine this image of these wonderful cottages wouldn't have looked much different had it been captured in the 16th century.

This iconic view is famous for a Hovis Bread advertisement in the 1970's. It was a very British commercial which was recently voted the best ever. It was directed by Ridley Scott of Alien and Blade Runner fame. Look it up on one of the many video sites out there, it's worth seeking out.

The light was less than perfect, ideally I'd have preferred a dawn or dusk shot but my travel plans meant an early afternoon arrival. Fortunately a small amount of cloud cover assisted in minimising the shadows.

Thank you for any faves or comments. They are always hugely appreciated.

For a brief few moments, the magic of cloud formation becomes a vision of wing-like flight delighting the eye while on its was to a new creation.

Quite a boon for me, Kelvin Helmholtz and lenticular clouds both visible together on the same evening!

An extremely rare phenomenon, where a cloud produces a billowing wave pattern. They occur when there is a strong vertical shear between two air streams, causing winds to blow faster at the upper level than at the lower levels.

Height of base: Can be any height, but usually at higher levels.

Shape: A repeating breaking wave pattern.

Latin: These clouds are named after Hermann von Helmholtz and William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, physicists who studied turbulent airflow. There is no Latin etymology.

Precipitation: None.

What are Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds?

Resembling evenly spaced rolling ocean waves, Kelvin-Helmholtz are one of the most striking and rare cloud types.

How do Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds form?

They occur when two different layers of air in our atmosphere are moving at different speeds (a phenomenon known as shear). When the upper layer of air is moving at a higher speed than the lower-level air, it may scoop the top of an existing cloud layer into these wave-like rolling shapes.

Kelvin Helmholtz instability is a scientific phenomenon not exclusively associated with clouds. It can occur wherever there is a velocity difference across the interface between two fluids. The most obvious example is wind blowing over water, in which fast-moving air can create the waves on the slower-moving water.

What weather is associated with Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds?

The clouds are more likely to occur on windy days. They are often good indicators of aircraft turbulence.

Weather

I don’t think I’ve posted much in the way of different weather conditions before. So lots of Rain, Snow, Clouds, The Moon, Rainbows, Frost, Fog, Mist, and other inclemency’s coming your way.

Unfortunately this photo does not capture the complete sense of peace and calm I felt standing in that dark field surrounded by the bellows of the stags on the hillside. It was magical!

Can you see it? I see a figure emerging from the dark clouds with long hair and his arm and hand extended... Took this from my deck on a stormy day.. ; )

I love looking at clouds and seeing all the formations they make! ; )

I will finish comments later.. Very hot today for this time of year, I think many states are experiencing this hot weather though.

Have a great day and stay cool! ; )

I love cloud formations & this particular sunset was stunning to see! Lucky me, I just had to look outside my front window!
