Mayon has the classic conical shape of a stratovolcano. It is the most active volcano in the Philippines. Since 1616, Mayon has erupted 47 times. The beautifully symmetrical Mayon volcano, which rises to 2,460 meters above the Albay Gulf, is the Philippines' most active volcano. The structurally simple volcano has steep upper slopes that average 35-40 degrees and is capped by a small summit crater. The historical eruptions of this basaltic-andesitic volcano date back to 1616 and range from Strombolian to basaltic Plinian. Eruptions occur predominately from the central conduit and have also produced lava flows that travel far down the flanks. Pyroclastic flows and mudflows have commonly swept down many of the approximately 40 ravines that radiate from the summit and have often devastated populated lowland areas.
Hilo Lightning – When I see lightning, it’s just a flash of light and it’s gone. When I capture on camera, I can see all its details. The light pollution from Hilo made the sky orange and the lack of light pollution made the blue sky. This is the best one out of the 18 exposures I took. Lightning is unpredictable and you don’t know where exactly it’ll flash. 15 sec, ISO 100, f/8 @18mm.
Jökulsárlón, Iceland.
Because they are so high up in the atmosphere, cirrus clouds consist of ice particles suspended in the air. Accordingly, this photo depicts mainly ice in the air and on the land and water.
I guess that is why they call this place Iceland ;-)

Gioco.
C'è un gioco
Che mi riporta
Ai sogni di bambino.
Guardare le nubi passare
Indovinandone le forme.
Ecco il profilo di un gabbiano,
ad ali spiegate.
Quello invece è un drago,
lo riconosci dalla lingua di fuoco.
E più avanti,
il volto di un mago
dalla lunga barba bianca.
In quelle nubi,
in quei sogni,
in quell'attesa,
ho costruito
lentamente
un'immagine,
cristallizzandola,
che esprime
il volo libero
della mia anima.
Meraviglioso,
è riconoscerla oggi
nel profondo
dei tuoi occhi,
nella nuvola grande
tracciata dai tuoi capelli,
nelle tue mani,
che disegnano forme nuove
nel loro gioco
sfiorando la mia pelle.
The clouds were constantly changing and creating some weird patterns. I also thought it was not cold enough for there to be ice on Lost lagoon, but I was wrong.
Hope everyone east of the Rocky mountains can survive your big blast of winter.
These well defined clouds were not dropping this morning. Perhaps rain clouds will follow as rain is finally forecast.

The tall peaks in this shot is known as the La Paz group or Cordeillera La Paz. These mountains we only saw twice in 5 days for brief periods, because of constant cloud cover and that was while on the boat. We went ashore to explore multiple times weather permitting. Which was when 3/4ths of this picture was taken. So this a shot composed of two images to form one shot, of what I thought it would look like if we had received any luck. And unfortunately the clouds always seemed to be hugging those mountains, directly in front of the La Paz group. Whether or not they could be seen from here I will never know, because we never returned to this location, nor did we have a clear day to answer our question.
