Talking open source with ULearn participants was possible at the Open Source Schools stand. Participants could see the e-portfolio software Mahara in action as well as play with an XO (OLPC). They could learn about the use of Open Source software for computers or cloud-based services at schools in New Zealand.
Even if a whole 12hrs flight shows only clouds or takes place at night, if you do only one shot like this, it more than pays off!
Mountain tops of the Chinese Himalaya region glimpse out of the cloud base as we fly down into Hong Kong. It is a tremendous sight to fly for hours through this inhospitable region.

Client of Going Green Solar and participant in the Going Green Now! Marketing Program. This picture demonstrates a solar electric array made up of 8 solar panels for approx 2 KW. This solar electric system which was engineered using micro inverter technology by Enphase is also linked up to a cloud based, real time monitoring system. This home is located in Peoria, Arizona. Today, there was finally a powerfull enough cumulonimbus cloud heading our way. Low level clouds covered my view, soon. My friend from Brno sent me images of it right away showing some horizontal expansion of anvil. But the cloud base started to dissipitate and ended in a total desperation. Anvil was visible for the next two hours or so until it dissipitated, too. Cirrus cumulonimbogenitus, cumulonimbus virga and hints of mamma were visible, too.

I very rarely get out into the Peak District in these conditions so made a special effort yesterday. The aim was to spend some time amongst the trees and try to find some simpler compositions - with the mist helping to clear the background of clutter.
The cloud base was actually quite high up, so only once I got out of the top of Padley Gorge was it possible to do this - but once there I like to think I made the most of it. This set of photos consists of pretty much every single photo I took up there (I've only left 3 out, for now) - so I am more than happy with my success rate (I would worry that I'm becoming one of those photographers who looks calm and collected... a bit pretentious, looking down on those who don't know the one and only composition they want weeks beforehand... but I'm sure the next sunrise will fix that - leaving me running around like a headless chicken again).
