De plasrombout is in Nederland een algemene soort die bij stilstaand en langzaam stromend, doch zuurstofrijk water voorkomt. De plasrombout heeft geel-zwart gestreepte poten in tegenstelling tot de beekrombout. De soort overwintert 2 á 3 jaar als larve in het water. Vliegtijd vanaf begin mei tot half augustus.

Why is this tiny, colorful flower in the buttercup family called "Cursed Crowfoot"?

I was unaware that all buttercup flowers are potentially poisonous. The name of the poison is "protoamemonin". This Cursed Crowfoot member of the buttercup family is the most toxic of all buttercups. The chemical substance is released when the leaves or stems are broken or crushed, and it may cause a rash or blistering on exposed skin.

Fortunately, I have not tested the statement that it causes a rash or blistering of exposed skin. :-)
