This is me trying to shoot a Martin Schoeller style close up. The detail he gets is amazing and I really like his work. This is taken with my 100mm f/2.8L which is very sharp. I probably took 100 shots to get a couple that were properly focused – it's hard when you're your own model!

A close-up of Devils Golf Course.

From earlier photo: Death Valley has so many different types of floor beds. Devils Golf Course is made of large salt crystals that were left behind when the lake here dried up many millions (?) of years ago. What I find completely crazy is that there the depth of these salt crystals goes 1,000 feet below the surface and in some place extends to 9,000 feet!

Here's a close up view of the camcorder mounted on top of my Stellarvue. There weren't any solar filters made that would fit the 3x telephoto lens so I made one from scratch. It worked well and I was able to take video of the 2012 Annular and 2014

Partial Eclipses.

You can see the Sun nearing totality in the view screen. The white bar at the bottom shows the exposure adjustment. The green audio cable feeds WWV's audio from the shortwave radio.
