Located on the Colorado Plateau in northern Arizona, Vermilion Cliffs National Monument includes the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. The Monument borders Kaibab National Forest to the west and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area to the east.
This remote and unspoiled, 280,000-acre Monument is a geologic treasure, containing a variety of diverse landscapes from the Paria Plateau, Vermilion Cliffs, Coyote Buttes, and Paria Canyon. Elevations range from 3,100 to 7,100 feet.
Visitors will enjoy scenic views of towering cliffs and deep canyons. Paria Canyon offers an outstanding three to five day wilderness backpacking experience. The colorful swirls of cross-bedded sandstone in Coyote Buttes are an international hiking destination. There are also opportunities to view wildlife, including California condors. There are two developed campgrounds just outside the Monument: Stateline and White House. Dispersed camping is allowed outside the wilderness area in previously disturbed areas.
A permit is required for hiking in Coyote Buttes North (the Wave), Coyote Buttes South, and for overnight trips within Paria Canyon.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu "is one of Bali's nine key directional temples. Though a small temple was claimed to have existed beforehand, the structure was significantly expanded by a Javanese sage, Empu Kuturan in the 11th Century. [...] Even more remarkable than the temple itself is its location, perched on a steep cliff 70 metres above the roaring Indian ocean waves. Not far south from Levenwick, close to Clumlie, are these sandstone cliffs. They harbour a small guillimot colony amongst other sea birds, another seal rookery and a family of otters.

Register Cliff State Historic Site near Guernsey, Wyoming
Wayfarers had a penchant for inscribing names and dates on prominent landmarks. Register Cliff, along the Oregon Trail, invited emigrants because broad river bottoms offered pleasing campsites and excellent pasture. The rocks at Register Cliff are hard enough that the engravings persist even to this day.

Shining Cliff Woods are an ancient oak woodland once part of the Royal Hunting Forest of Duffield Frith. In 1690 it came under the ownership of the Hurt family and they then used the landscape to quarry and smelt iron. It's not surprising therefore there is still evidence of the former quarry. Apart from the quarry edge, as you walk through the woods there are still traces of millstones.
The wood is now owned by various people including the Grith Pioneers and Forestry Commission.

The Cliffs of Moher are on the western coast of Ireland. It cannot be told by this photo but these cliffs are the highest in Europe, higher than the Ocean Fiords of Norway.
Sunrise at the Paradise Park Cliffs. I noticed that there were some rocks that formed a waterfall when the water receded. I just love the contrast between the green seaweed stuff on the rocks and the water flowing. I’m using this as my wallpaper.
Cape Breton Nova Scotia was truly an amazing place and the Cabot Trail drive was some of the nicest views and crazy winding roads we have ever got to see. Driving through the mountains as the cliffs drop off into the ocean and the water blends into the sky. Its one of those places that you might only get to be there one time in your life so when we made our plans to go to the East Coast this was a must see that for sure was well worth the trip. I hope that everyone one day gets to take this drive through the Cabot Trail cause no matter how many photos you could ever see its hard to capture a vastness like that-- I was thankful for the awesome blue sky's we had along the drive and this was one of the photos i took along the way Cheers to Cape Breton and all the kind folk we met along the way
Through the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009, Congress designated the Red Cliffs National Conservation Area (NCA) in Washington County, Utah “to conserve, protect, and enhance …the ecological, scenic, wildlife, recreational, cultural, historical, natural, educational, and scientific resources” of public lands in the NCA.
The Colorado Plateau, Great Basin Desert, and Mojave Desert overlap in Washington County. In this transition zone, unusual plant and animal species have evolved, including the dwarf bearclaw-poppy and Shivwits milk-vetch, small native plants that grow nowhere else on earth. The hot, arid Mojave Desert provides habitat for diverse wildlife, such as kit fox, Gambel’s quail, and the Mojave Desert tortoise. This native tortoise is listed under the Endangered Species Act and is at risk of extinction due to habitat loss and other factors. The newly-designated Red Mountain and Cottonwood Canyon Wilderness areas are also within this NCA. Here, hikers, backpackers, and equestrians can enjoy scenic vistas, solitude, and natural quiet, just a few miles drive from local communities.
More than 130 miles of non-motorized recreation trails (hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trail riding) are available for public use in the NCA. The Red Cliffs Recreation Area offers camping and day use areas, in a developed site where fees are collected. All motorized vehicle travel, including Off-Highway Vehicles, is limited to designated roads in the NCA. No motorized or mechanized vehicle travel is allowed in the Red Mountain and Cottonwood Canyon Wilderness areas, without special authorization from BLM.

A nice BCS pictograph panel from a canyon in the Book Cliffs in Utah. Shot in probably 1999 with my (no longer fully functional) Minolta XG-M on Kodak 100 speed slide film, scanned with a Nikon CoolScan IV film scanner about 5 minutes ago, and colors corrected back to something similar to the slide in Photoshop.
