Because we had not seen them outside our awning they started getting there own food from the feeding station and even got all the grain out of a feeder

Feisty, clever, and industrious, Common Grackles are in the Blackbird family, and are often seen at our city's shoreline along Lake Michigan.
Here this grackle was stopping by for a drink and to scout for any minnows that might be swimming by. And yes, I've personally witnessed these birds flying over the lake like a gull, then swooping down and plucking unsuspecting minnows off the surface, only to fly back to the land and to their nest to feed their young!
From afar grackles appear to be black, and while the female stays fairly dark in its coloring, in the right glint of the sun the males can glow lovely iridescent purples and golds, as seen above.
..makes a hole in the feeding place and digs another hole right down below...but that was not intended dear little mouse!
A snowy egret using an alligator as a fishing raft, this way it can get to the fish in the deeper water.
If you speak to the locals they say that the alligators are not interested in the birds, all feathers and bones with not much meat, some are known to knock birds out of their nests during breeding season though so a bit of a gamble I would say.
I'm always amazed at all the various sounds a raven is able to make. This one was making chortles and cackles and clicks and whistles like it was having a conversation with me.
