amazingly enough, the top plate of our pedestal survived 'til the end of the year, still full of ashes, still jaggedy-edged. casey kept shifting the sand back and forth for like eight minutes, much as kivi had done at one point many moons ago. and oh, how many moons before now does it seem that we first made this thing! it has been a long, long year.
Part of an amazing Mining History diorama at a Pioneer Park Museum in Fairbanks. Park admission is free and the museum only has a donation box. It is well worth a look and a donation.

During this time Ivanhoe Library staff worked to clean out the building in preparation for its demolition prior to the opening of the new Ivanhoe Library and Cultural Hub Project later in 2020. Staff vacated the building on 31 May.

About 200 19th Engineer Battalion Soldiers returnedfrom a deployment to New
York in support of Superstorm Sandy relief efforts and were honored during a
ceremony at Fort Knox's Natcher Physical Fitness Center on Dec. 11 at 10:30
a.m.
The 19th Engineer Battalion deployed to New York Nov. 2 and 3 to provide
command and control for water pumping elements operated by more than 600
servicemembers from all branches of the military and provided debris
cleanout services as needed.
During the deployment, the unit removed 13,250,000 gallons of water and
1,350 tons of debris.
Ianthe demanded to be at the closest cleanout to make sure that I didn't toss out anything she still wanted.
Mid clean, she wanted to change her outfit.
