DSC_3144. Common Kingfisher/Alcedo atthis (female)!
After a quick bath it was time to clean-up and oil her feathers!
This female kingfisher took a break in-between the feeding of her chicks and hatching (?) the remaining eggs/staying at the nest while the male was fishing!
Awesome to see them dive into the water coming directly from their nest. One could see she really enjoyed the dive!

Miniature.
Unfortunately my first choice photo for this week's theme was rejected and that is why I am now posting my 2nd choice here. You can read why this is my 2nd choice in the description below:
A bit out of my comfort zone. Actually, I don't really like photographing miniature dolls. But sometimes you just have to try something. But still, it's not my cup of tea. I borrowed these figures from my husband who has a model railway. I like them there, but not really in front of my camera. In this modern age we have to take care of all kinds of pollution, including that on the digital highway.

Today was a big day for my country. All over Slovenia, volunteers gathered to clean up all the illegal dumping grounds and other hidden garbage dumped in the nature round our beautiful country. Over 200.000 people officially signed up for the action, but practically everybody was involved. You could see entire families picking up garbage and having a great time doing it - especially little kids! Naturally, I did my civic duty and cleaned along the road where I usually go for my morning walks. I ended up with two huge garbage bags full of old cans, bottles, and other rubbish!
I hope that after today sites like this will no longer exist in Slovenia!
Try to organize such cleanup action in your country, as well! You'll have a feeling of belonging and huge satisfaction! :-)

This large honey bee landed right near me and was cleaning the pollen off it's legs. It was quite interesting.
I have an Ant nest in my garden.
The Ants were working very hard to clean up their nest, by carrying sand out of their nest.

In my Declutter missions for this year from "Home Storage Solutions" it's all about the Kitchen and this week has been cleaning off the counter tops/Island/table. Well it looks good right now and ready for me to unload the cabinets next week to clean them out eeek
But it feels good to have all the excess clutter (decor things) put somewhere else. Just one more thing to help in getting this house ready for the wedding - 10 months counting down!!!

Today I had the pleasure of assisting Ottavia and Joe make 8 bushels of tomatoes into sauce. They work as a well oiled machine. Before dawn, basil is put into the bottles, the grinder is set up and protected with foil. The lids are sterilized and bottles are already sterilized and waiting.

Macro Monday: Theme - This New Year....
I plan on making an effort to stop holding on to the past.

I've been working on decluttering, sorting, shredding, filing, and consolidating (mostly paperwork) for some time now. Before I strike a new system, for dealing with papers, the pile keeps getting bigger not smaller.
Draping a blanket over it, for now, has made all of us happy.
Acquired a dumpster, cleared out most of the basement, spare room and any other item that could just go!

First 2011 resolution completed during the first week of the year. I feel like I've cleaned my head too, it's refreshing.
The frog dissection is creepy, but I'm OK with that because they've never done it before. The other sets have been seen before & I'm sure will be seen again.
As every woman knows looking after a house is a thankless task! and it takes a lot of hard work keeping it nice and tidy....I had this little idea yesterday while going about my daily chores, so I set my tripod up and this is what I came up with...And I managed to squeeze in a brew and eat a banana as well lol...
