Abhog, founded in the year 1998 , is a premier dance and music academy from Salt Lake, Kolkata, which endeavors to propagate the rich cultural heritage of Bengal and beyond, through songs, dance and drama.
The heart of the ancient city of Aphrodisias was of course the great sanctuary of Aphrodite, whose temple is still recognisable from surviving Ionic columns.
The temple was converted into a church in the Byzantine period, from which time parts of the apse survive along with several marble panels carved with geometric designs, scattered on the floor amongst the earlier architectural fragments.
One of a series of massive carved head corbels that must have once supported the architrave of a major building in Aphrodisias and now displayed at ground level outside the museum.
Like the earliest classical landscape paintings captured from the first hot air balloons, I saw the same vista from cruising altitude on my Sunday afternoon flight into Sydney.

This is the historic Brooklands Mill in Leigh,Lancashire,UK.
It was built in the 1890's by the Mather Lane Company as their third mill on the site, being named "Matherlane No.3 mill", only later would it aquire the name Brooklands Mill.
Surprisingly, it isnt a listed building, despite its sister, MatherLane No.2 mill, being a Grade II listed building. It is however still occupied, being used by various different firms including a Gym and a metal plating company.
The building is a very fine looking building with smart but sheer classically styled elevations. It stands on lower ground compared with the other monumental mills in Leigh, and is thus harder to see. It goes rather unoticed sadly.

Dr Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden celebrated the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival with a public day of activities and festivities on September 30th.
This garden was ranked in 2011 by National Geographic as "top city garden" in the world.
The Gateshead Viol Consort rehearsing before their performance in the Avison Ensemble’s Family Concert. The Consort is directed by John Finnon.
The Avison Ensemble continued its collaborations with young musicians in the North East region by presenting a Saturday afternoon Family Concert in the heart of Newcastle’s town centre in early October 2011. Performing at the Brunswick Methodist Chapel the Ensemble was joined by the Strings of the Gateshead Youth Orchestra and the Gateshead Viol Consort who performed lively works from the English Baroque period. The Avison Ensemble performed Vivaldi's Four Seasons on period instruments to coincide with the release of their new recording on Linn Records of Vivaldi's 12 Violin Concertos Opus 8.
The Avison Ensemble is the outstanding period instrument orchestra based in Newcastle upon Tyne, which plays and popularises the music of Charles Avison (1709-1770) and other English classical composers of the Baroque period, such as Garth, Arne and Herschel. The Ensemble also performs Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi, Corelli, Geminiani, Pergolesi, Teleman, Rameau, Bach, Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven.

The Gateshead Youth Orchestra performs a very wide repertoire and aims to give young musicians the opportunity to perform a wide range of music from a variety of periods and styles. The Gateshead Viol Consort plays music written between 1550 and 1700.
