B.R. (E.R.) Standard Mk.I Class "302" (originally Class "AM2"), originally 1,500 v dc overhead, later 25k v ac overhead 4-car outer suburban e.m.u. No.305 (later No.302 305) in BR Rail Blue livery and all yellow front end at Limehouse on an ecs working to Fenchurch St., 12/75. Scanned side taken with an Exacta.

Like several enthusiasts took pictures kindly unchallenged but unfortunately there was an armed raid for copper etc. within a ouple of days of these pictures and a railman was hurt. Suspect many visited them. I had been travelling regularly on these from 1956 to 1967 between Romford and Seven Kings with occasional trips to Liverpool Street until their withdrawl.

An approaching Class 302, set No 227, stops our progress into the Fords sidings at Dagenham Dock, 23rd June 1983. Two loaded trains of Cartic 4's can be seen to the right of the 302. Of the two the LH one, mostly hidden from view is our train to work forward to Finsbury Park.
Class 302 no 235 leaves with an Up train that has arrived 'the quick way' via Laindon and Upminster.

Royal Mail livery. At Ilford Open Day, 20th May 1989. I'm a bit confused as most sources on the web have these as being rebuilt for Royal Mail in 1992, but this is definitely 1989...

The 16.30 to Shoeburyness awaits departure from Fenchurch Street on 14 July 1998. The train is formed by Class 302 emus 302225+302298, which were then in their last few weeks of operating service. The Class 302s were built between 1958 and 1960 but were all withdrawn by 1998.
