Love this kind of lenticular stationary rotation.
High winds aloft with eddies caused by the nearby Cathedral Mountains sometimes create fascinating flow patterns in the clouds.

THE ISLAND WITH THE BELL TOWER OF THE SANCTUARY.
Overlooking the Julian Alps there is a small natural lake, a small blue pearl with an island in the center on which stands a church dedicated to the Assumption.
Today you can reach it by swimming but also, and much more easily, with small non-motorized boats. The municipal regulations in fact prohibit the circulation of motor vehicles on the waters of the lake to preserve its natural beauty. No big deal, however, for lovers who can thus indulge in a romantic navigation on the rowing Pletna, the characteristic boats made available to tourists.
If you have in mind fairy tales with dragons, princes and princesses, you can only imagine them in a place like this.
It is no coincidence that the Huffington Post has nicknamed the Island of Bled, which stands in the middle of the lake of the same name, the island of fairy tales.
It is a magical place and that transmits charm whenever you go to visit it.
If you click on the photo you will crash on the island...

The start of the show as a tornado comes to life... Weather Adventures was there to witness the event. Today is my last chase day for 2016. People are talking about strategies and positioning across facebook. I'm excited. Not the best parameters for a chase, but definitely a chase worthy day. Let the show begin!

I'd say the poor carpenters on this job nearly went out of their minds...

Here is another shot I did back in April at this famous beach in Washington. The sky was supposed to be completely covered by thick clouds. I didn't hope much for that day, but I still hiked a few miles to get here, hoping to see something nice happen. Ultimately, before the last bit of daylight faded away, the sun poked through the thick clouds for a brief moment. I felt very lucky to be able to capture this.
See it in 500PX:
The “Endless Staircase” in Munich: created by Olafur Eliasson. He is a Danish artist of Icelandic origin, lives and works in Berlin and Copenhagen. This staircase is the only one in the world where you can walk up and down without changing direction. The nine-metre-high construction consists of two steel double spirals. Their helix shape is reminiscent of the structure of DNA.

Since May 2002, the Euro has been the sole currency of the Eurozone members including Austria, Italy, France, and Germany whose former currencies are pictured here.
While still legal tender in the United States, the well-worn 1907 "Indian Head" penny on the left is certainly a relic from "back in the day."
Essaouira is protected by a natural bay partially shielded by wave action by the Iles Purpuraires. A broad sandy beach extends from the harbour south of Essaourira, at which point the Oued Ksob discharges to the ocean; south of the discharge lies the archaeological ruin, the Bordj El Berod.[1] The Canary Current is responsible for the generally southward movement of ocean circulation and has led to enhancement of the local fishery.[2] The village of Diabat lies about five kilometres south of Essaouira, immediately south of the Oued Ksob.
Essaouria connects to Safi to the north and to Agadir to the south via the N1 road and to Marrakech to the east via the R 207 road. There is a small airport some 7-8 km away from the town, which schedules several flights a week to Casablanca.
The Medina of Essaouira (formerly "Mogador") is a UNESCO World Heritage Listed city, as an example of a late 18th century fortified town, as transferred to North Africa.
The fishing harbour, suffering from the competition of Agadir and Safi remains rather small, although the catches (sardines, conger eels) are surprisingly abundant due to the coastal upwelling generated by the powerful trade winds and the Canaries Current.
There are only a handful of modern purpose-built hotels within the walls of the old city. The medina is home to many small arts and crafts businesses, notably cabinet making and 'thuya' wood-carving (using roots of the Tetraclinis tree), both of which have been practised in Essaouira for centuries.
Essaouira is also renowned for its kitesurfing and windsurfing, with the powerful trade wind blowing almost constantly onto the protected, almost waveless, bay. Several world-class clubs rent top-notch material on a weekly basis.
Parasols tend to be used on the beach as a protection against the wind and the blowing sand. Camel excursions are available on the beach and into the desert band in the interior.
Essaouira is the site of an annual pilgrimage to the grave of Rabbi Chaim Pinto, whose home and synagogue are preserved as an historic and religious site, the Chaim Pinto Synagogue. The Simon Attias Synagogue is also still standing.
