As I already mentioned in the caption of Towering from Dark Sands, this morning on the Stokksnes peninsula was absolutely spectacular with beautiful light and some amazing clouds circulating around both peaks of the Vestrahorn mountain. In contrast to the last image, here I zoomed into the scene in order to put more emphasis on the beautiful UFO-like cloud. I hope you like it!
Yellow lake is 1.6 km or a one-mile-long lake on British Columbia's scenic Highway 3A. It is stocked with fish and is a very popular lake for locals to fish. It's common to see people fishing on the lake during winter, when the lake surface is frozen and safe to walk on. Simply bring a chair, some wood for a fire, make a hole in the ice and drop your line, sit back and sip warm coffee as you wait for a bite. The lake has no natural inlet, so in order for the fish to survive it has to be aerated by artificial circulation.

Saturday, June 17, 2023 was a wild ride. We encountered more than 200 storm chasers, multiple clouds that tried to form funnels, CD size hail, and almost 2.5" of rain. Father's Day weekend seems to be a good time for storms in the Oklahoma Panhandle. This storm moved on to our neighboring town, Laverne, and did major damage to much of the town.

Pushkar (Inde) - Depuis 1991, je ne manque jamais de faire une halte de plusieurs jours à Pushkar, chaque fois que je m’aventure dans l’Etat du Rajasthan.
C’est une ville fréquentée par les touristes pressés, mais c’est aussi l’un des lieux les plus reposants de l’Inde. Ici, il règne une atmosphère particulière. La circulation est interdite aux véhicules aux abords du lac sacré. Un secteur piétonnier assez rare en Inde pour être signalé, qui participe à la sérénité du lieu.
Cette photo a été prise en 2008 avec mon premier appareil numérique. Un Nikon D80. Je n’avais pas encore pris conscience qu’il valait mieux travailler en raw.
Je venais de faire une série de photos d’un fabricant de yaourts et je revenais par la rue piétonne parallèle au lac, quand j’ai aperçu cet homme qui semblait méditer. Peut-être priait-il ?
Quand je me suis approché l’oeil dans le viseur peaufinant mon cadrage, les pigeons se sont envolés. Cet envol apporte un peu de vie à une photo qui aurait pu être un peu trop statique à mon goût.
Meditation facing the sacred lake
Pushkar (India) - Since 1991, I have never failed to make a stopover for several days in pushkar, whenever I venture to the state of Rajasthan.
It’s a city frequented by busy tourists, but it’s also one of India’s most relaxing places. Here, there is a special atmosphere. Traffic is prohibited for vehicles on the shores of the sacred lake. A pedestrian area rare enough in India to be noticed, which contributes to the serenity of the place.
This photo was taken with my first digital camera. A Nikon D80. I hadn't yet realized that it was better to work in raw.
I had just taken a series of photos of a yogurt maker and was coming back through the pedestrian street parallel to the lake, when I saw this man who seemed to be meditating. Maybe he was praying?
When I approached my eye in the viewfinder fine-tuning my framing, the pigeons flew away. This flight brings a little life to a photo which could have been a little too static for my taste.
Another picture of the mesocylonic storm passing over Ghent on 13 March 2021. In this picture you can very clearly see a funnel cloud forming in the centre from one of the multiple mesocylonic circulations. You can also see the mesocylone itself, which, by lack of a better way of describing it, had detached from the cumulonimbus and formed a ring of clouds next to it, which you can see here in the foreground.

Cette même belle journée ensoleillée et vraiment pas froide de la fin février 2024, après avoir photographié ce magnifique Tohi mâle. J'ai décidé de me rendre à Laval dans un petit parc urbain dans lequel un Petit-duc maculé de forme rousse avait été rapporté depuis longtemps. La circulation étant affreuse en fin d'après-midi pour le retour à la maison, pourquoi ne pas en profiter ?

That same beautiful sunny and really not cold day in late February 2024, after photographing this magnificent male Tohi. I decided to go to Laval to a small urban park in which a Rufous-form Eastern Screech-Owl had been reported for a long time. Since the traffic is awful in the late afternoon for the return home, why not take advantage of it?

We all know that Alexander the Great had reached the borders of India more than two thousand years ago. When in the 1970s exploring the Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, South India, I came across the fact that ancient Greek and Roman coins had been found in the area and that therefore there must have been trade connections between the Roman Empire and India. However, it is not only merchandise that would travel on these routes but ideas as well. There are reports that Greek philosophers in particular (Pythagoras among them) had been visiting Indian thinkers, Hindu and Buddhist, and brought their ideas back to Europe. Apollonius of Tyana, another philosopher around the time of Jesus, is said to have returned a changed man teaching vegetarianism and non-violence. In fact, the anti-Christian propaganda compared the lives and the miracle work of Jesus and Apollonius and highlighted the fact that both were saints but that Apollonius was never turned into a god. El año 1893 se construyó una pasarela provisional de madera que permitiera el acceso directo desde el centro de la ciudad a la estación del Norte, la plaza de toros y el velódromo. El 19 de enero de 1905, día anterior a la inauguración del nuevo puente, se realizó la suspensión de la circulación por el viejo puente de madera, para su destrucción posterior.
El diseño es de Antonio Palacios Ramilo. Fue construido en hormigón armado, que constituía una novedad para la época, con tres arcos de 24 metros de luz, con 20 metros de ancho y 88 de largo.
En el puente destacan los cuatro obeliscos monumentales, ubicados en sus extremos, copia de los del puente de Alejandro III, de París, con 18 metros de altura, coronados por grupos escultóricos. Las figuras ecuestres que coronan los obeliscos fueron realizadas por el escultor madrileño Ángel García Díaz.
In 1893, a temporary wooden footbridge was built that allowed direct access from the city center to the North Station, the bullring and the velodrome. On January 19, 1905, the day before the inauguration of the new bridge, the circulation of the old wooden bridge was suspended for later destruction.
The design is by Antonio Palacios Ramilo. It was built in reinforced concrete, which was a novelty for the time, with three arches of 24 meters of light, 20 meters wide and 88 meters long.
On the bridge there are four monumental obelisks, located at their ends, a copy of the Alexander III bridge in Paris, 18 meters high, crowned by sculptural groups. The equestrian figures that crown the obelisks were made by the sculptor from Madrid Ángel García Díaz.

Op deze grauwe dinsdagmorgen was er ook nog een RFO kolen trein in aantocht met 2 1800 Locs in dubbel tractie - zul je net zien , barst er net een regenbui los ;( eigenlijk is het veels te donker maar de combinatie van Touax Roemeense Falns met Ermewa Eanos wagens is toch te leuk om niet te laten zien ;)
RFO rijdt sinds april 2021 kolen treinen vanaf Maasvlakte West naar Ostrava (Tsjechië). Voor het vervoer zijn verschillende sets wagens in de omloop gezien - TSS en Touax Falns en 2 types Ermewa Eanos wagens.
Deze keer was het een combinatie van 4 Touax Falns met daarachter een gewone sleep Ermewa donker grijze Eanos wagens.
RFO Elocs 1831 + 1837 (DT) komen met een beladen kolen trein uit Kijfhoek Noord langs industrieterrein Harselaar-West in Barneveld op weg naar Bad Bentheim (D) waar de trein wordt over genomen door vervoerder ITL op weg naar de uiteindelijke bestemming Ostrava (Tsjechië).

On this gray and drizzly tuesday morning a RFO coal train was due to pass with 2 Eloc type 1800 in Double Traction - but the weather got worse , a giant rain shower just started ;( it is far to dark but in combination with the present Touax Romanian Falns and Ermewa Eanos wagons it is just to nice to let go ;)
RFO services coal transports from industrial area Maasvlakte West near Rotterdam to Ostrava (Czech Republic). Various sets of wagons have been seen in circulation for the transport - TSS and Touax Falns and 2 types of Ermewa Eanos wagons.
This time it was a combination of 4 Touax Falns followed by a regular rack Ermewa dark gray Eanos wagons.
Lineas Elocs 1831 + 1837 (DT) passes hauling a loaded coal train from shunting yard Kijfhoek Noord along industrial area Harselaar-West in Barneveld on its way to Bad Bentheim (D) where the train will be taken over by train operator ITL which will transport it to its final destination Ostrava (Czech Republic).

Even though naturally ventilated and exposed to natural light at a number of points, the interior spaces felt dark and bland due to the expansive use of concrete. The internal circulation didn't work as well as intended as spaces lacked definition and purpose.
