The third page. I wove two pages from the book together, the flowers are from a cheap craft store. On the right page I used cork for the background, a little world map someone sent me, fake pearls and the photo is taken from an old fashion magazine. The words read "apple cider is next to the flashlight".
For an art assignment, the theme was 'The Street'. I chose to do an altered book, relating loosely back to abandoned things. It is all very influenced by yyellowbird's photography, Frankie magazines and various poems that I have found inspiring. [[Work in progress!]]
In this Mount recorded the steps involved in making hard cider, presenting an image of life on a farm in Setauket, Long Island that is vivid and cheerful, but also a thinly veiled allusion to current events.A newspaper story published in connection with the painting suggested the Mount modeled each figure as a reference to a participant in the presidential campaign of 1840,in which the Whigs defeated the Jacksonian democrats by promoting their candidate,William Henry Harrison,as a common man who would rather drink cider in a cabin than move into the White House.
The Neon sign in the empty restaurant caught my eye during a 'circuit' of a busy part of the city. I noticed the reflections of passers by and waited for a while until a suitable 'subject' wandered into view. This smartly dressed gentleman was absolutely perfect. When the dust settles I hope to do more similar works on my daily travels.
"And the rails go on forever in a silver trail to the setting sun
You can follow them anywhere you want to go
And on Sunday morning easy rider comes to me with apple cider
Leaves me here without a need to know" Al Setwart
Ever since I first heard Al Stewart's "Apple Cider Reconstitution" in the 70's about old railway stations and railway lines, being young, and drinking cider, I have have a picture stuck in my mind, and last week while crossing the lines at my station I saw that picture! Luckily I had my phone camera to capture the moment, just pimped up a bit with a texture.
I still get a buzz out of the song today.
Just before I left for Florida, I developed a roll of Harman Phoenix II that I put through the Pentax 17 last weekend at Dromfest. The fest ended a day before #WWHFPD , so I figured the roll wouldn’t count, but I realized somewhere in Georgia that the last of the roll was shot on our way home on Monday and qualifies. Brooklyn Cider House is in New Paltz, not Brooklyn. Go figure. Laura found this. We had lunch there, pizza and a lemonade apple cider that tasted more of apples than lemons cold, but the lemons took over as it warmed up. This place is a keeper. We both loved it.
I love the hot apple cider at the Moka House in Cook Street Village.
Shot with my favourite lens, a Zuiko OM 50mm f1.4.
The magnificent Cider Gums of Central Tasmania are under severe threat from causes yet to be determined. I was so glad I got the opportunity to photograph these ones near Miena, Tasmania.

For the Through the Lens theme of 5 oçlock somewhere. The recent hot weather has meant a beer or in this case the last of the Montague Apple Orchard Cider with ice and a chaser of sparkling water as a refreshing break on the patio looking into the yellowing garden beds. With added neural network filters in Photoshop to give that slighly blurry effect drinking alcohol on an empty stomach gives me!!

This is a very old cider press, they can be seen all over this area of Normandie amongst the apple orchards.
Caught this wasp having a sip from my can, I like the composition of the shot & how the gold of the can matches the yellow wasp.
