Full-figured pine squirrel thinking he'll sneak in and grab some sunflower seeds.

Goldfinch, in our garden.

Starting a new series today, contrasting some of the smaller vs. larger wildlife species occupying the same habitat.

One of the smaller species on the prairie is the Black-tailed Prairie Dog. This one has been busy bulking up for the coming lean months of winter and has been very successful at that endeavor.

Photographed in Custer State Park, South Dakota.

Tomorrow, a larger prairie inhabitant.

In Hindu art, Krishna is depicted as blue. This little guy reminds me of Margaret Wise Brown's "Little Fat Policeman", with a Samurai or Ottoman twist.

Chester has a nice face, with large cheeks. He likes when I brush him there.

Abused Abandoned Jungle Dogs.

Tomorrow no# 1's brother will make another

delivery to the nuns at The Monkey Temple.

Today no# 1's sister is taking her around so

she can gather all the goodies for the dogs.

Refilling the first-aid kit is an important issue.

Maybe in a week or so I will be taken to the

monkey temple by no# 1's brother. This plan

is still up in the air right now.

Yesterday I spent most of the day in the hospital

due to complications from the latest broken bones.

Upon my return the computer was fired up and

a flickr mail was found waiting to be read -

A former follower has said ,

-"they are tired of commenting

and getting a 'nasty reply back !"

This knocked the wind right out of my sails...........

It also got me to thinking about the last 6 years of

caring for all the temple dogs.

The relentless dangers involved in just getting out

there and back. The continued road rage that must

be dealt with on the worlds most dangerous roads.

The cobras, pythons, crazed apes, disease infected

insects, poisonous plants, a budget so thin it looks

like a mosquitoes ass stretched over a rain barrel,

monsoons, crossing flooded washed out roads, many

broken bones and lacerations, severe infections

threatening life an limb, leaving a warm bed at 5AM

again and again regardless of weather conditions .

Lugging around heavy camera equipment in order

to document the on going dog saga here in the hot

humid steamy jungle. An environment that stinks to

high heaven from rotting foliage and monkey poop !

An environment where your first mistake will most

likely be your last mistake !

If my replies aren't PC, so be it. I'm "Not" a PC kind of guy.

I'm the guy who's always called to go in and get someone

out of a place that's way to dangerous for anyone else to go !

Why do I continue to care for the temple dogs ?

For peace of mind, and my love of animals.

Will I continue ? Of course I will.

But, I've also decided to take a brake from posting.

If I have offended anyone please except my apology.

In a week or so if no# 1's brother can transport me back

out to the temple I'll post new photos and text if possible.

At this point I want to humbly thank all of you who continue

to post your comments and of course donate to the cause.

The photos and text are done especially for you ............;-)

Thank You.

A Cottontail Rabbit gives me a peek.

This little fellow seemed especially well fed or perhaps heavily pregnant. Either way, it seemed a healthy animal as it watched me watching it.

Yesterday was one of the hottest if not the hottest day in the UK this year and only mad dogs Englishmen and Essex T girls venture out in the midday sun. Ok it wasn't midday it early evening but temp was still 34 so way to hot for staying in guy mode lol

Wasn't sure about the dress as it shows my tummy a bit and this photo really shows up my chubby face :-( but in the end I decided I wanted to be seen and get some sun on my shoulders.

We ending the evening sat outside with a slightly cooler temp of 27. some of the lads sat around us must of been really warm as they were sweating buckets

Chubby partridge is nowadays quite uncommon bird,, this bird is seen in middle of the small country road

This Black-tailed Prairie Dog seems well prepared for the coming lean times of winter. We observed him/her continuing to build its fat reserves in Badlands National Park where the species occupies habitat of roughly 4,500 acres. That's a whole lot of Prairie Dogs providing a plentiful food source for such predators as cayotes, foxes, badgers and birds of prey.

Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel

I always thought of these as chipmunks but they are squirrels and damn adorable with a ton of personality!
