Despite the chubby appearance of this one, Ruby-crowned Kinglets are tiny birds. Typically weighing only 5 to 10 grams, they are one of North America's smallest songbirds, smaller than a a Black-capped Chickadee and only a bit larger than a Ruby-throated Hummingbird, notes the American Bird Conservancy. Males have a red crown patch, which is often concealed. But if you look closely, you can get a glimpse of the red crown on this little guy.
This little guy was under my feeder just stuffing his cheeks until he could fit no more. Only looking up once in a while to make sure no one was hunting him. Shot on a Nikon Z with manual 500mm Lens

This little (ahem) kid was playing in the harbor that our Zodiac boat rolled into. Strangely, he was fat. Generally, the men (and boys) of Polynesia are very fit and the women are ridiculously overweight. This kid was the exception to the rule. Strangely, the young girls are very fit. I wonder what happens to them as they mature?!?
Ahhh the chubby girls were at our setup allllll day in Phoenix, wouldn't leave us alone! I tried to do my weird thing and scare them away but it wouldn't work.
A random picture I took of Brooklyn squatting down to pick up some gravel. I love her chubby little leg flowing over her socks and shoes.

These are painful thoughts, years of feeling self-loathing... today I took these photos of myself with love and forgiveness, and thoughts of "I am beautiful"... chubby, but beautiful... Feeling deep pains as I write this... but today is the day I fight back and say to my mother "It's OK to be fat"... It's beautiful if you feel beautiful inside, if you are loved deeply by a wonderful man, and if you love yourself enough to forgive yourself for being "fat".... I think these photos of myself are full of love and beauty... that's how I feel about [ME].... today...."

Chris named this Fox Squirrel "Chubby" as they usually pack on a few ounces for the winter.
Spring is in the air at Baldwin Lake so I expect the thick fur to thin very soon.
