My friend Sarah (friends since High School) came over to visit. We juiced up some apples, oranges and lime - Yum! We made homemade chowder together for lunch. Great time. Awesome company.
Again, my numbering may be off - and my pictures didn't include enough references to be sure - but I think this is Chowder #32 - Smoked Corn + Salmon Chowder from the Smokehouse Cafe in Newport RI.
If I'm wrong, please, someone correct me. I've got to start taking better notes - but it's tough if I'm carrying a camera AND trying to eat chowder.
Upon further review of my photos, I've determined that this is probably Chowder #13 - from the Gas Lamp Grille in Newport RI.
This was my second visit to the Newport Chowder Cook-Off. Last year's was exceptionally pleasant, except for the immense crowds that packed the venue during a beautiful cloudless Saturday.
They slightly enlarged the venue this year, and the rainy weekend implied a slightly suppressed turnout. As a result, the crowds were just about right: at no point did I want to retire to an adjoining rooftop and aim some high-velocity fire hoses down into the masses.
A Tweetup (Twitter meetup) at the Chowder House at Ward Warehouse, which is closing on Sunday after 34 years.
