Chew Jetty is one of the clan jetties which form part of the Penang Heritage Trail. There used to be seven jetties until one was demolished by fire and now six remain. Billed as one of the last bastions of old Chinese settlements on the island, this waterfront society is home to houses on stilts of various Chinese clans.
Taken a few weeks ago, Olive on the patio chewing on pigeon feather. The weather has been grey, damp and wet for what seems ages, I've not been far or taken photos. Need to try some indoor ones, light permitting!
No wait, that ain't right!

Moose are ruminants. From Wikipedia: "Ruminants are mammals that are able to acquire nutrients from plant-based food by fermenting it in a specialized stomach prior to digestion, principally through microbial actions. The process typically requires the fermented ingesta (known as cud) to be regurgitated and chewed again. The process of rechewing the cud to further break down plant matter and stimulate digestion is called rumination. The word "ruminant" comes from the Latin ruminare, which means to chew over again."
Most sunny days, moose come out into the open very early to feed, and then head back to the shade to rest and ruminate. On the day I made this shot, there was a nice cloud cover most of the morning, so the moose just laid down out in the open instead of heading for the trees for shade, allowing shots like this.
If you look closely, you can see a bit of cud in his mouth...

This old barn sits in Pennsylvania’s Fayette County on a quiet country road. Painted wit the iconic Mail Pouch Tobacco slogan, it stands out nicely against the late day December sunshine.
I know many indigenous people still chew betelnut. I tried once. It has some sort of bitter taste, lingering in your mouth for a long time after you stop chewing. Usually people eat it with the betelnut leaves (sirih).
