1. Hand, harsh shadows, glass chess board and pieces.
2. My main idea was to capture the essence of action in the midst of a chess game. I mainly used rule of thirds for this picture.
3. In taking this photo, I made sure that the person holding the piece was in the slightly off the direction of the light so that their hand would be lit but also cast harsh shadows behind it. I mainly edited to add more depth and contrast to the photo (using tone curve and contrast). Last, I cropped to make the photo more centered around the subject.

Raglan Shire's Tiny Battle Chess Game. Tiny designers created costumes for the pieces. Tinies were the pieces and chess masters Cyzicus and Stephen played the game. But the outcome is not the usual - because tinies had to battle for each square they wanted to take ... and whoever won the battle got the square.
OK, it’s not the greatest shot ever, but this chess set was in a glass case in a room with low light levels..... But what a fabulous set of pieces! I’m just not sure how you tell which pieces belong with which side as they are all white.
