Lots of waxwings rustling around in the cherry trees right now, gobbling up the fruit

RJC-1 passes the old Conrail yard office at Cherry Tree on its way to Clymer.

During a Sunday drive, we stopped to shoot this cherry orchard. The blossoms don't hang around long, so you have to shoot while you can.

Coming home Wed 26 March 2025, before the "possible severe weather, wind, tornadoes and hail are possible. Look for large hail." This is what I saw. Unfortunately it's an awful setting for a huge rainbow and as I was watching, the rainbow diminished, perhaps due to encroaching clouds. So I didn't try to find a better setting. I also get to capture that cherry tree at the intersection that was blooming beautifully - while the weather was (where I was) absolutely nothing as bad as that forecast, we did get enough rain that the cherry blossoms took a hit from it.

The Kings Garden in the centre of Stockholm is fantastic at this time of the year, alleys of japanese cherrytrees are blooming. On my visit here today there were almost the same amount of photographers as the small beautiful flowers on the trees...hehe !

Cherry blossoms line the East Potomac Park road on both sides.

Still chowing down on the cherries from our weeping cherry trees

while we will probably never know if george washington really did, there is no doubt that odin did, in fact, chop down the cherry tree.

it's one of two cherry trees we have and while the other one is thriving, this one just wasn’t liking where we planted it and never produced any fruit.

Same as previous, eight days later. Bleached by the Sun?

This minimalist, folded tread staircase has been treated to an unusual “Driftwood Sioo” white oil finish. The solid oak stair has been attached to the reclaimed brick stairwell with hidden steel pins.

The very open style wrought iron balustrade was cut and welded from yard stock; the joints carefully cleaned up and only the loose mill scale removed.

The metal balustrade has been chemically sealed and simply bolted to the structure to give an industrial salvaged feel.

As for the aesthetics, the sheer simplicity of the ribbon-like structure, in conjunction with the raw, reclaimed brick wall, make this staircase appear light, airy and practically weightless.

Unusual for me to see the waxwings looking anything other than sleek and debonair
