Under this very old cherry tree is a small statue called "ojizosama". Ojizosama often represent children who have died before their parents. It’s the parents or sometimes also other local people who put the bibs on the statues to protect the dead children in the afterlife.
I took a similar photo here a couple days ago but I got up at 4:30 am to drive here and capture the morning light. This time, on my way home from work I detoured here to take a pic of this amazing tree getting hit by the light in the opposite direction. Not sure if I like the flowers in the foreground or if I should crop them completely? Either way, just having a bit of fun with the colours of spring and this beautiful 300 year old cherry tree in Japan.
This is another panorama merge of a couple photos shot with Sony RX100 and merged in Lightroom. It is really hard to get these historic Boston brownstones in one shot because there are cars in the way of backing up any further, but merging a few got me some decent results.
The first trees to bloom besides the magnolias.

Last night's peak bloom cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin. Great to see the blossoms again! Peak bloom was declared on Sunday so the blooms were looking good. Since there was no breeze, I was able to take a long exposure late in blue hour.

This year our plants and flowers are developing splendidly and very early! While there were hardly any cherries last year, our tree is currently full of fruit, which the birds, squirrels and other animals are also very happy about! The first cherries are already starting to turn red!

Signs of Spring !
I could have done with this challenge a week or two back with a shot I captured of a Blue Tit collecting nesting materials which I would have preferred to submit for the challenge instead of blossom , you can see the shot in the first comment box . It is what it is so here is my blossom shot taken this week of my neighbour's tree at the front of her house (As seen in the second comment box below ) . I note this tree grows some leaves before opening out all of it's blossom which is the other way round to most of the other trees sprouting blossom that I see . I am guessing but think it must be some sort of flowering cherry tree !! This is the end of one branch , so you can just imagine the sight this tree creates seen fully in bloom !!
For Sight and Sound , I think the original was more to do with space and physics , but someone on youtube has linked it to springtime with some images of spring - but the music is well worth the listen as it builds and builds ( and it comes into the prog genre re last week ) .
