When I smell Cherry Blossoms I also smell beer and molasses-scented pipe tobacco. That sense-memory is from the early 1970s, and hits me every spring.
Our Daily Challenge: SENSORY TRIGGERS
I set aside seven favorite (previously unposted) images of mine for a week of sakura photos. Here's the fourth.
Image made with my Hasselblad 500 C/M.
It did not produce any cherries this year, probably because of late cold weather. However, it is very healthy and has more leaves than usual. It is now seven feet tall. Taken by Edgar.
I know it's far from spring, but as the days grow shorter and the
evenings chillier...sometimes it's nice to focus on what'll be
waiting on the other side of winter. (Taken along the Capitol Mall in
Salem, Oregon, 3/9/05.)
P.S. Much to my frustration, I've found that it's quite difficult for a PhotoShop-less amateur to photograph pale pink on a white background. You kinda had to be there, but this provides a hint.
apologies to the Doris Day song lyrics!
A bumper crop of cherries have just appeared on local flowering cherry trees. Small but sweet and the local blackbirds were enjoying them.
Winter always makes me kind of depressed. Nice to have pictures like this to remind me what is ahead :-)
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to view, comment, and fave my photo.
Bit early. too bad :(
I wanted to take family photos under the cherry tree or on the pink petal rug. Well, my plan A was destroyed immediate. Because a big white tent was up for the cherry blossom festival.
So next, I took this (Above) photo in the morning to test for my plan B. Bluebells are the parents, favorite flower so I wanted to include those flowers and hint of cherry blossom in the back. Well, it was a bit early for full bloom but I liked it.
However when I came back here the same day at 3pm, I realized I had totally forgotten it's a Jewish holiday
plus spring break.. so I ended up shooting amidst the absolute chaos of a crowded garden. The kids also acted a bit different than they usually do. It was hard to capture with all the energy and constant motion of these guys at this stage - jumping, running, twirling, picking very thing up.
Anyway the children are more important than flowers so I did the best I could.
The parents loved the photos and I had fun myself...
but sooo tired. It's hard to choose just some photos from 300 photos from the sessions.
I will go back to the garden again soon next week for just flowers!
Back Garden - I did get him yesterday, but not before he had made it down onto the Sunflower hearts. Today however I got him pretty much as soon as he landed in the Cherry tree.
