Fitzroy Gardens, eastern lawns. Probably the Kwanzan cherry, Prunus serrulata Kwanzan, but then again? There are many flowering cherry trees, and it is a complex subject, particularly when researching those cultivated in Japan

We have a white cherry tree in our front yard. It was covered with them this year, but with all the rain they have developed brown rot and burst. I just feel for the farmers who were relying on their crops for more than jam to make into Christmas gifts :(
