This building dates to 1974, when Chemnitz was still part of the GDR and the town was even renamed "Karl-Marx-Stadt". The Stadthalle is a multipurpose building serving as venue for concerts, theatre performances, business meetings and TV productions.

Das wie ein abgestelltes Akkordeon mit fast 100 m Höhe in den Chemnitzer Himmel ragende Hotel gibt schon ziemlich lange, was man ihm gar nicht so auf den ersten Blick ansieht.
Es wurde zu DDR-Zeiten in den Jahren 1969 -1974 vom Architekten Rudolf Weißer erbaut und trug den Namen "Interhotel Kongreß".
Nachdem es seit 1989 mehrfach den Besitzer wechselte, wird es seit 2018 von Dorinth betrieben und schaut äußerlich bereits saniert aus.
Angeblich werden aber nur die sieben obersten Etagen vom Hotel genutzt, wofür die anderen dienen, ist nicht bekannt.
Der dreigeschossige Bau in bräunlichen Farben, der sich davor erstreckt, war früher einmal Stadthalle und nennt sich nun Kongress-Zentrum.
Das Wort Kongress scheint wie ein Flaschengeist dort in der Gegend umher zu irren und sich an immer neue Gebäude zu heften ;-)))
An der Endhaltestelle in Hutholz warten Skoda ForCity Nr. 912 und Variobahn Nr. 902 einträchtig auf die Abfahrt in Richtung Stadtzentrum. Bei meinem letzten Besuch fuhren hier noch Tatras!
Das Eisenbahnmuseum Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf ist eines der letzten vollständig erhaltenen Bahnbetriebswerke Europas.

Majestätisch überspannt das Göhrener Viadukt das Muldetal. Am Reformationstag 2019 rollt eine 233 mit ihrem Gipspendel von Großkorbetha nach Chemnitz-Küchwald über das Bauwerk.
Das Eisenbahnmuseum Chemnitz-Hilbersdorf ist eines der letzten vollständig erhaltenen Bahnbetriebswerke Europas.
Hier der ehemalige Karlex er pendelte zwischen Leipzig und Karlsbad, leider glänzt z.Z. nur die Sonne!
