What i like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce
Tailwind
ICM, intentional camera movement, takes advantage of a simple color palette to tell a simple story. Lines surround the walking woman in a slight diagonal cant. Red joins her magenta coat to add a spark of energy and potentially clarify her intended path. Rich light provided detail and there is sharpness about - places to rest my eye.

Parco Talenti was all kinds of peaceful — golden light, silhouettes, and that perfect hush before night falls.

On the streets of Havana you'll often see people wearing all white, these people are going through their Santeria initiation.
Santeria, or "the worship of saints" is becoming a very popular religious practice in Cuba.
Here is a blog I have written on my website with more Cuban Street Portraits, check it out:

Color forms an intended triangle that anchors this street shot. Hues of red knit together pieces of the scene. She is the focal point, as humans usually are, and combined with her brightly lit bike, form the focal point. Strong vertical lines form a frame within a frame while intricate diagonals add interest and a feel of motion. Hot and cool add energy. But it is the light, choosing to dance within the frame at random that makes my eye want to explore the frame.

Multiple exposures emphasize the human figure and the graffiti that surrounds her. Light gives energy with its diagonal slant as it highlight areas of interest and directs my eye.

THE OLD BRIDGE
When I was at the age of 15 my brother and me often drove in his car to the Eifel. He and my uncle Erich introduced me to Blues and Jazz music.
One piece I will never forget was „Even Trolls Love Rock and Roll“ by Tony Joe White.
And it goes like this:
But we came upon a long black stretch of woods
Had an old river running through it
And an old wooden bridge across the river
Well just as I was about to step up on the bridge
Out stepped the troll…
So this was what I was thinking when I saw that bridge in the middle of Norway…of course :-) Have a great day!

Mono Lake on Christmas Day
I spotted this small, sheltered space with a view of the snow-covered mountains. Unlike the open part of the lake, the water was rather calm, so I was quite excited about the reflections. The reflections of the mountains were definitely not in store.
While the bands of thick clouds hovered over the mountains like Mono Dome and Lee Vining Peak, but, quite surprisingly, even Mt. Warren was clearly seen.
The mood that I found myself in was not necessarily something that I was looking forward to. And yet, it could change any minute. And I was hoping for it.
I saw a bit of muted pink seeping through the sky. Definitely part of Earth’s Shadow, but I wasn’t sure if it would come through or turn into something that made my attempt worthwhile.
So much for chasing light, I thought.
But then again, it could change any minute, I told myself.

Red Rings
Reflections upon reflections build layers of design and color on the sensor. Patterns emerge as shapes repeat. Light intensifies deep hues. There is energy here that keeps a static scene from feeling still.

The love affair with this pier continues ... I'm wondering what number I'll be up to by the time I leave?
Happy Monday Everyone!! Must attend to Sammy right now! :-)
Time Keeps on Slipping
A bridge railing giving way to harsh weather loses its paint to the elements. Brilliant sun casts a diagonal shadow to give more drama to the strong colors. An hourglass of sorts - at least to my eye. I love finding little treasures in unexpected places and capturing them.

Mono Lake on Christmas Day
As the sky got lighter, I turned around facing northeast again and composed a shot with one of the nearest Tufa towers in the water.
Like in the sheltered recess, the water was calm near me albeit the rest was of the lake was not, thus, I was able to capture rather clear reflections of these towers in spite of the short duration.
I loved the light at this particular moment… the moment when the sun was about to rise above the horizon, starting to illuminate the world with the pending exposure of sunlight. And the overcast sky was acting as a giant softbox.
Storm at Sea
Beautiful light; wonderful shapes that repeat in a pattern; brilliant drama in color. All conspire to created a visual piece that calls for closer study. A single frame. No layers added. It is as shot with a tiny bump in saturation.

Took a quick snowshoeing trip overlooking Donner Lake last Friday. I shot these few snaps at the top up by the old train trestles. It was a perfect afternoon and I'm ready to hit the fresh mountain snow again after the next storm.
Under a Golden Canopy
ICM, intentional camera movement, adds a bit of mystery and saturated color to this passageway. Gold and blue join forces to add energy. Patterns reinforce. Color decorates shapes and defines space. Spatial relationships are strong. It's easy to see they are walking in grandeur.

BETTER LARGE View On Black
I normally hate cars as photo objects - they ruin street perspectives. But in this case it worked somehow. and in this i think as well
Pay Attention
Reflections and silhouettes create a bit of mystery. No composite here. Just shooting what I see. Bold shapes and lines - strong black against softer shade all add visual interest. Nice weighting with details and open spaces. Simple color tones let the content speak clearly without color disruption. If you don't hear it, that's okay. It called out to me and I answered.
Not a composite - as shot :-)

She walked through the color spotlights painting the cathedral next to Washington park and so the light painted her. Clothing and hair reflect back deep hues of the night. The backdrop, with its geometric designs adds interest and provides a nice frame as she passes through. She forms an X of interest with her arm and moving coat. An apparition of the night.

LOFOTEN February 2018
Another one from my travel to the Lofoten Islands by Hurtigruten coming from Tromsö. The wind was so strong they could not guarantee to go into Stamsund harbor. So I left the ship in Svolvaer and took the bus to Leknes.

The camera doesn't make a bit of difference. All of them can record what you are seeing. But, you have to SEE. ~ Ernst Haas
Taken @ Labrador Park Singapore
I almost trashed this image {see the SOOC in comments to see why}. Just for the heck of it, I ran it through camera raw defaults. Sure enough, there was something lurking behind all those black pixels. So I had some fun sliding this around. I kinda like the dreamy result!!
By the way, a few minutes later, I took this image: Waning Gibbous. What a difference a few minutes can make!!

Background Mountain - Mt. Shukstan
June 4, 2016
At top of Mount Baker (Lummi: Qwú’mə Kwəlshéːn; Nooksack: Kw’eq Smaenit or Kwelshán), also known as Koma Kulshan or simply Kulshan, is an active[9] glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington in the United States. Mount Baker has the second-most thermally active crater in the Cascade Range after Mount Saint Helens.
About 31 miles (50 km) due east of the city of Bellingham, Whatcom County, Mount Baker is the youngest volcano in the Mount Baker volcanic field. While volcanism has persisted here for some 1.5 million years, the current glaciated cone is likely no more than 140,000 years old, and possibly no older than 80-90,000 years. Older volcanic edifices have mostly eroded away due to glaciation.
