Change VS Time.......What is the difference? Is there a difference?

Action and reaction, ebb and flow, trial and error, change - this is the rhythm of living. Out of our over-confidence, fear; out of our fear, clearer vision, fresh hope. And out of hope, progress. by Bruce Barton

WC T046 rolls into Milwaukee and prepares to hit the Cut Off with their inbound tow of goods. The 35th Street viaduct frames the last days of existence for the Milwaukee Road Shops - most of the original 1880's buildings are already leveled and only a few remain. County Stadium's days are numbered as Miller Park nears completion. In a year, WC will disappear as a corporate entity. The access road to the Shops complex will be removed in a few years replaced by a modern "blah" concrete bridge.
The only thing constant in life is change......
Massive Change was a recent exhibit by Bruce Mau at the AGO (at Dundas West and McCaul). Though it's over now, I like that the message has been incorporated into the AGO's reno plans. The new design, courtesy of Frank Gehry, will increase gallery space by 40%.

Grassi Lakes, Canmore, Alberta
I have never seen a lake like the upper and lower ones at Grassi Lakes. The water is always so calm, clear, and free of pollution that it takes my breath away every single visit. This was my first time visiting outside of the summer months, and it did not disappoint. I was struck by the contrast of the evergreen (and always green) pine trees, against the bold yellows and oranges of the surrounding bushes and trees, and the way it had such a stark reflection on the aquamarine blue of the water. This is one of those places in the Rockies that I especially hope never reflects the increase in human traffic and maintains its serene, natural beauty.
When trackside, one can often tell at a quick glance the heritage of the trackage they may be on, usually by looking at the signaling system. Three color traffic light style signals usually mean C&O; small, round, yellow position light signals signify the PRR; small, round and colored position light signals were the B&O. These signals gave character and originality to the railroad and set it apart from the others.
With the ever encroaching demand to make railroading safer and reduce the amount of derailments caused by human error, the addition of Positive Train Control (PTC) has all but eliminated any originality from the railroading industry. Because this new technology is not compatible with the old, the old needs to make way for the new.
The old was still putting in its working hours one beautiful October day as southbound Norfolk Southern manifest train 37Q passed through the small village of Shenandoah Junction, WV on its way to Knoxville. The new stand for the signal bridge can be seen standing in the background while the old bracket mast signals still stand, clearly showing this line's former Norfolk & Western heritage.
Waiting for a friend at Media City, these reflections caught my eye. I love the rolling feeling, like a sandy beach that leads the eye forward into the sunshine.

Great Western Railway's 1C04 0730 London Paddington to Penzance service stands at Tiverton Parkway on 15th March 2018. The train was terminated here to flooding between Tiverton and Exeter and passengers were making their way to the station forecourt for a replacement bus westwards. The whole operation seemed very slick with clear information on the train about what would happen, and buses awaiting the train's arrival at short notice. 43122 is the rear power car (behind the camera), but as often is the case, I forgot to note the front power car number.

As summer transitions into fall, We're reminded once again just how important each season truly is. The shift in seasons mean much more than adjusting weather patterns. It means something different to every one of us.
For some, the frigid, never ending chills of winter give way to the hope and promise of spring. It is a welcome relief and the mark of a new beginning.
For others it's the delightful warm summer days filled with new memories and time shared with family and friends over a barbeque, cold beer and a dip in the lake.
As summer comes to a close, many midwestern folks battle through a second summer followed by indian summer. Eventually, Mother Nature decides on Autumn and her cool, crisp days allow for an ever changing palette of brown, orange, yellow and red.
There's no better time or season to enjoy nature than during the fall months.
So get out, go hiking and explore. find a creek or stream on a breezy crisp day and listen for the leaves that dive into the water - or the trees which sway and sing to us as they too know that change is upon us. Light a campfire as the sun makes its final dip into the evening sky and enjoy time with the ones you love. Fall is whatever you make of it - so go create, go enjoy, go explore and go make lasting memories!
sad thing is, andrew came here today.
but i wasn't able to go see him :(
i was pretty set on having a jacks mannequin song as my little theme
that tree really wasn't that high haha
this was more difficult than it looks :/
(And today was a day just like any other)
I'm on the verge, I'm on the verge
Unraveling with every word
With every word you say, make me believe
That I won't feel your tires on the street
As I'm finding the words... you're getting away
I come undone, oh yes, I do
Just think of all the thoughts wasted on you
And every word you say, say something sweet
Cause all I taste is blood between my teeth
As I'm finding the words... you're getting away
Well I'm ready, I'm ready to drop
Oh, I'm ready, I'm ready so don't stop
I'm ready so don't stop, Keep pushing
I'm ready to fall, oh, I'm ready
I'm ready so don't call, I'm ready so don't call
I am aware, I've been misled
I disconnect my heart, my head
Don't wanna recognize when things go bad
The things that you'll accept
Except that I am finding the words... to say
I'm ready, I'm ready to drop
Oh oh oh oh oh, I'm ready
I'm ready so don't stop
I'm ready so don't stop
(I wake up to find it's another
Four aspirin morning, and I dive in
I put on the same clothes I wore yesterday.
When did society decide that we had to change
And wash a tee shirt after every individual use:
If it's not dirty, I'm gonna wear it.
I take the stairs to the car
And there's fog on the windows.
(And I'm Fighting the words...)
I need caffeine in my blood stream,
I take caffeine in the blood stream.
I grip the wheel and all at once I realize:
(And you're getting away...)
My life has become a boring pop song
And everyone's singing along.)
Well, I'm ready, to drop, well, I'm ready
I'm ready so don't stop, oh
Well, keep pushing, I'm ready to fall
Well, I'm ready, I'm ready so don't call
I'm ready so don't call, oh... oh... oh...

Not for image quality - I was photographing in the other direction, where the light was ideal from the car window, when I turned and looked back to see this unique sight. I quickly changed direction and took a few shots of this "cute coot" feeding a yellow slider. I would have loved to back up the car to get a better vantage point, but thought I might miss this photo op. I had already missed a panther trying to get a lower perspective :(

changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
With all of our running and all of our cunning
If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane
RIP Jimmy Buffet, December 25, 1946 – September 1, 2023
As the ship started to pull away from Curacao and the libations started to flow there was a definite "climate change" that took place. Everybody started to loosen up and let go of their worries, exactly what you're supposed to do when you go on a cruise. Niccy and I were hopeful that this attitude would remain for the rest of the trip, I guess we had a Wait and See sort of mindset.
Niccy and I just got back from a 2 week cruise down in the Caribbean, a trip that was supposed to be in the UK but thanks to the whole covid fiasco that was not meant to be. We were on the P&O Britannia and as we quickly found out we were the only Americans aboard! We had a good time, got to see some new ports and enjoyed the weather.
“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ― Apple Inc.
