With the Trans Pennine Upgrade in progress, this area will be totally different. In 1989, 47471, working the 06:20 Newcastle - Liverpool has just crossed the river Calder and about to go over the closed Spen Valley line.
The Spen Valley route became a Greenway for walkers and cyclists. The new viaduct will cross here over the canal and Calder, replacing the cast iron bridges with increase in speed.
A simple twist of the handle bar for a change in direction during cycling.A short and stiff frame is great for quick turns and makes riding the dirt track much easier.

Sassafrass saplings cover the forest floor in this spot along a path. This is a unique tree, with its three differently shaped leaves. There can be a single-lobe, a mitten shape, and a three-pronged shape on the same tree.
They give the forest floor a fiery look in autumn along this stretch of the trail.

honestly, some nights are simply more difficult than others.
i find that it is not the classic 'dark and stormy nights' that sink in, but the delicate ones.
those rare nights that lie upon the world so still, so quiet...
so carefully balanced that everything would change with even the slightest touch.
i should go to sleep.
what for?
"changing" is most of the time an easy motto for marketing.
"stay true to yourself" could as easily be one.
The "why" is never mentioned.

With the last snow melting, nature slowly turns green again...
In this new part of my "Black Forest Waterfalls" series part of the "Gaishölle" near Sasbachwalden in the Black Forest is shown. It's more of a wild stream than a waterfall but still an impressive -- and beautiful -- sight.
A section of Bastion Falls on a late winter afternoon. Nearly backlighted, which I don’t get a chance to photograph very often. (And nearly icy, which I didn’t get to photograph very often this winter.)
This is downstream from Kaaterskill Falls, which was my intended subject, but the trail was a sheet of ice in places, so we went only as far as this.

As the ship started to pull away from Curacao and the libations started to flow there was a definite "climate change" that took place. Everybody started to loosen up and let go of their worries, exactly what you're supposed to do when you go on a cruise. Niccy and I were hopeful that this attitude would remain for the rest of the trip, I guess we had a Wait and See sort of mindset.
Niccy and I just got back from a 2 week cruise down in the Caribbean, a trip that was supposed to be in the UK but thanks to the whole covid fiasco that was not meant to be. We were on the P&O Britannia and as we quickly found out we were the only Americans aboard! We had a good time, got to see some new ports and enjoyed the weather.
About to climb into the Grampians Mountains. The weather had started to turn foul at this stage and the wet weather gear was on.
We had a rest here after riding all day. The next section was going to be through winding, slippery mountain roads in the rain so we just wanted to be rested and ready for it. The hands were already numb from the cold though.

Love to see the combination of stars, mountains and trees.
I got up early with an idea to try somewhere new but I hadn't anticipated that the snow would be quite as picturesque. Rather that waste it, I decided on the way to detour instead to Curbar.

One of Japanese culture is pop culture. We have so many charactors in Japan. Coincidently, Mattel produced Hello Kitty fashions. That is one of the most famous charactors.
And some young girls dye their hair blonde and put color contact lens as fashon.

21/12/2016 6°C in Home Gym, but training heats one up fast ! But I've never been so tired in my life...... In this photo I had changed plates( from one set to the next) on each dumbell, by 0.25kg ............... Managed just over 2/3 of the normal chest workout ultimately.

Bomonga spent his matoran days as a builder, carving and often finding treasure and ore he would use in forging stronger better weapons & armor for himself, his fellow villages and other villages in need. he took his duty very seriously and with pride, like Hafu and a few other hard working matoran of each tribe, some helping him set up shop. often he would go adventuring away from his shop and village, finding more and new material to work with, trade & make repairs if needed, if he found a favorite dig-site or some place that was worth his time, he would honor it with a statue of his image or a highlight of the surrounding area. Bomonga's life would change one day, new doors would open, his skills great as they are would improve greatly with new ability's and powers, the Stone Artist matoran would face his destiny when he unearthed a strange stone he only heard from stories long past, a mysterious stone radiating with power, glowing from the cracks hidden under rock, most likely forgotten by the makuta or piraka, Bomonga reached for the stone, it glowed intensely before it faded and absorb into his hand, it continued as it flowed up his arm and through his whole body as it grew and transformed into a new and stronger generation of Toa.
