Two Tree (or not two tree)

A very nice tree, near my home. I can't take any nice ones of it anymore though. The skyline is currently a vast construction site, and in a while a new neighborhood :(.

This barn caught my eye because it shows changes from decades ago that have morphed into other uses throughout the years in someone's efforts to preserve its usefulness. Change is necessary in our lives but in our declining years sometimes we yearn for things to stay the same.

About 30 minutes behind the Glacier Discovery was the 110N. Loads of frac sand in super sacks headed for Fairbanks. By the time this train arrived there had been quite the weather change so I opted for a view from the dark side with the Kenai Mountains in the background.

"Changes" is a song by English singer-songwriter David Bowie, originally released on his 1971 album Hunky Dory. RCA Records then released it as a single from the album on 7 January 1972. Written following his promotional tour of America in early 1971, "Changes" was recorded at Trident Studios in London between June and July that year.

At this point in his career, Bowie had experimented with numerous musical styles, all of which failed to earn him stardom. The lyrics of "Changes" reflect this, with the first verse focusing on the compulsive nature of artistic reinvention and distancing oneself from the rock mainstream. Musically, "Changes" is an art pop song that features a distinctive piano riff. Upon release as a single, "Changes" flopped like its parent album. It wasn't until the success of its follow-up The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars that the song garnered success.

Retrospectively, "Changes" is regarded as one of Bowie's best songs, with many praising Bowie's vocal performance and Wakeman's piano playing. His biographers have viewed the track as a manifesto of his entire career, predicting a constant change of musical styles. Bowie performed "Changes" frequently during his concert tours; it was the final song he performed on stage before his death in 2016.

It's going to be 65'F and sunny today! Another beautiful sky this morning. Looks like more changes in the weather are eminent.

Don't use this image on websites, blogs or other media, without my explicit permission.

Someday, the light will shine like a sun through my skin & they will say, What have you done with your life? & though there are many moments I think I will remember, in the end, I will be proud to say, I was one of us.

HBW!

Arriving early at Willband I am treated to a golden light as the sun rises over the mountain. A short while later it changes and will make the conditions mostly overexposed.

Thank you for viewing, faves and comments!

The elevation of the sun in the sky has a dramatic impact on the scenery here. I never tire of visiting this park, nor this location. Every ten steps brings in focus a new angle, a new look, every 15 minutes of sunlight does pretty much the same. It is spectacular!

I was at Green Timbers Urban Forest in Surrey British Columbia Canada. I’ve photographed this location several times over the past week and was challenging myself to see it from a different perspective. I put a 7Artisans 60mm Macro lens on my Fuji XT3 and was seeing new subjects everywhere. A simple change of perspective rekindled my interest.

Changes

Neil Young

Moments of magic will glow in the night

Fears of the forest are all gone

But when the morning breaks they're swept away by

Golden drops of dawn, of changes

Passions will part to a strange melody

As fires will sometimes burn cold

Like petals in the wind, we're puppets to the silver

Strings of souls, of changes

I changed the bedding today - how mundane. Anyway, before I could get to it the cat had a field day on the sheets - this is a snap of her handy work. She was not impressed when I put the clean sheets on and hid in the airing cupboard in protest. Can't please everyone.

set to music

I'm moving through some changes

I'll never be the same

Something you did touched me

There's no one else to blame

The love we had has fallen

The love we used to share

We've given up pretending

As if you didn't care

Change changing places

Root yourself to the ground

Capitalize on this good fortune

One word can bring you round

Changes

I look into the mirror

I see no happiness

All the warmth I gave you

Has turned to emptiness

The love we had has fallen

The love we used to share

You've left me here believing

In love that wasn't there

Change changing places

Root yourself to the ground

Word to the wise - well you get what's coming

One word can bring you round

Changes

When I look into your eyes and try to find out how

There's no way to save it now

And everything I feel

Changes

Keep looking for

Changes

Changes

For some reason you're questioning why

I always believe it gets better

One difference between you and i

Your heart is inside your head

One word from you

One word from me

A clear design on your liberty

Who could believe when love has gone

How we move on like everyone

Only such fools

Only such jealous hearts

Only through love changes come

Change changing places

Root yourself to the ground

Capitalize on this good fortune

One word can bring you round

Changes

One road to loneliness

It's always the same

One road to happiness

It's calling your name

Change changing places - changes

Root yourself to the ground

Capitalize on this good fortune

One word can bring you round

Changes

Change changing places

Changes

Root yourself to the ground

Word to the wise - well you get what's coming

One word - one word can bring you round

Today being August 3rd 2022 we changed plans.

We were planning a run to the monkey temple

to give all the dogs their monthly injections.

It has been monsooning all over us.

The river has breached the banks.

More heavy storms are coming.

Good time to batten down the hatches !

4:27AM the rain was hitting the tile roof so hard

it sounded like the roof was going to cave in ;-0

We'll shelter in place for now.

Catch y'all on the rebound ;-)-

The camera was haphazardly

The genesis for the destructive Camp Fire was one mile to the north of the tiny resort community of Pulga, CA, located in the Feather River Canyon. According to reports, the entire area surrounding Pulga was wiped out by the fire. It makes shots like this extra special. Late on a summer afternoon, a westbound Union Pacific grain train exits the small resort community.

No matter how much we try to fight change, to hold on, life continues inching forward often in indifference. It’s up to us on how we react to it. To shape what you can control within the predictable yet sometimes chaotic changing of the seasons. To spark joy in the mundane and the profound whenever possible. Amor Fati, love fate. Sometimes, less is more.

So beautiful, but so poisonous. A fly agaric sits on the bank side of the Wey surrounded by a scattering of fallen leaves, while the sunlights up trees still in full leaf.

The former Northern Pacific searchlights stood tall at EAST LOUISVILLE on the morning of August 3, 2022 guarding the turnout into the siding. Fifteen minutes before 08:00, #BNSF7689 [ES44DC] swings around the corner headed out of Helena, MT, the morning light shining down, unimpeded by the mountains to the east. 7689, along with a similarly painted C44-9W and SD70MAC in H2 paint, are powering an eastbound 112 car empty unit crude oil train, destined for someplace out east, roaring up the grade towards the summit of Winston Hill.

Facing towards the twin head searchlight stands it’s eventual replacement, a Safetrain “Vader”; two other Vader’s are similarly situated next to the other two searchlights on the other end of the control point. It’s was a sign of the times, the end of MRL’s tenure on the Northern Pacific mainline was near. Out with the blue, in with the orange. EAST LOUISVILLE was far from being the only control point on the MRL 2nd Subdivision with this sort of scenario, and I’m glad to say that I was able to at least frame some of the old searchlights before their imminent removal from service.
