African leopards (Panthera pardus pardus) are one of the two big cats that inhabit the continent of Africa, along with the lion. The cheetah is also sometimes included in the big cat family due to their size, but it is technically not a big cat as it cannot roar.

The leopard has an exceptional ability to adapt to changes in prey availability, and has a very broad diet. Small prey are taken where large ungulates are less common. The known prey of leopards ranges from dung beetles to adult elands, which can reach 900 kg (2,000 lb). In sub-Saharan Africa, at least 92 prey species have been documented in leopard scat including rodents, birds, small and large antelopes, hyraxes and hares, and arthropods. They generally focus their hunting activity on locally abundant medium-sized ungulates in the 20 to 80 kg (44 to 176 lb) range, while opportunistically taking other prey. Average intervals between ungulate kills range from seven to twelve days.

The beautiful Kaboso, female Leopard of Double Cross area was elusive as usual but we did manage to sight her finally early in the morning, coming out of the bushes going towards her resting place. Photographed on an early morning game drive in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Kenya.

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.

As told here: flic.kr/p/2pn2AuY the Bay Colony Railroad has lowered its flag after 41 1/2 years.

Here is the final train in New Bedford for the last time. After running east 7 1/2 miles across the length of the line the crew is making a few moves to pull the four loads they brought out on to the north leg of the wye for pick up by Mass Coastal. Then they will return this way down the main to pick up three empty gons and run thru the south leg and on to their Watuppa Branch for THE last run back west to Mid City.

This view looks north on the MassDOT owned and Mass Coastal operated New Bedford Secondary. Note the milepost denoting 53 miles to Boston via Middleboro and the former Old Colony mainline. This is a new milepost as the line is renumbered in anticipation of the start up of MBTA's South Coast Rail extension of T service. Prior to the change Nash Road was MP 29 as measured from the Northeast Corridor in Attleboro via the Middleboro Line thru Taunton, Cotley, and Myricks. The new signal mast with the heads turned afield is part of the South Coast project which has brought massive changes to what for years has been a rickety unsignaled freight branch seeing no more than two or three trains a week. In about a year when construction is complete and the line is ready for testing and startup, MassDOT will turn over control to the MBTA and Keolis will become the operator in place of Mass Coastal which will then only be the designated freight carrier.

47712 'Lady Diana Spencer' on display at the old Crewe Diesel Depot, now Locomotive Services Ltd during their open day held on 08/06/19

Yesterday saw a flurry of activity within our local bus club, the first of any magnitude there's been for a couple of years. In with the activity, three buses swapped storage locations and in the course of so doing, this was the newest of the small 'fleet' entering the North Staffs village of Tean. The latter was on the old A50 prior to the new dual carriageway being built which linked Uttoxeter with Stoke on Trent. As an aside, if you look through the upper deck front windows of the Olympian there's a gap in the housing, this was as a result of it being attacked by vehicles which failed to take the bend in busier times. The house was demolished and not subsequently replaced following the final incident.

POPS G755 XRE is an ex PMT / First Potteries Cummins engined 'all Leyland' Olympian. For some of us this might seem unreasonably new to be a preserved bus, but it is 'the future' . . . if its not already old hat, for the youthful enthusiast.

A page from the official program of the Second Atlanta Pop Festival,1970. This program was subject to change and it did. Everyone started late and many played at a different time from what was shown here. The music went until the early hours of each morning. I was a big fan of Jethro Tull but he was a no show. The Allman Brothers did start and end the show but I did not get any pictures of them - they were no so famous in my neck of the woods at that time. Jimi Hendrix did play on the fourth of July with a big fireworks show.

This is a contemporary photo of the original tabloid size program printed on newsprint. The 4 photos of the program in this set reflect the complete program except for some advertisements that I did not photograph.

I will show a full length photo.

High tide this afternoon. It was too cool for short sleeves, and too warm for a jacket. The weather looked okay to the east, and stormy to the west. Change in the air.

Labourers working on a resort construction project,

take a break and head towards their base.. situated on the neighboring island,

where food and lodging is arranged.

Recently, the Labour Ministry reluctantly announced the figures of 'legal' immigrant workers in Maldives at around 75k. Not big.. they must have emphasized, when considering the amount of projects currently underway.

But it is very big, when compared to the local population, currently at around 350k.

That is roughly 1:4 ratio of foreigner to every Maldivian citizen. Young and old included.

In some local village Islands which are in close proximity to construction sites, the figure escalate to alarming levels, which also lead to much tension between groups and hence lead to many unwanted social problems.

There are approximately, 30 newly leased resorts, 11 airports and over 60 harbour dredging projects.. in addition to the numerous building construction projects underway (or about to begin) in the Capital City and in the islands.

If this is not big, then big is certainly on the way shortly.

The Government is taking steps to develop three mega cities in the following zones.. Gulhi Falhu, Bodu Mohoraa and Ihavandhippolhu.

Spring is coming! Time to dust off the tri-bike.

The wind never stops blowing on this spot. It is shaping the landscape and everything around it, including ourselves..
