A gem of the Dee Valley, the Chain Bridge was originally built in 1817 by local coal merchant Exuperius Pickering to open up a cheap transport route across the River Dee, enabling him to take coal to the A5.

It was later rebuilt by Henry Robertson during the 1870s and then by his son Sir Henry Beyer Robertson in 1928, who rebuilt the suspension bridge that stands there today.

Safety concerns forced the 19th century structure in Llangollen to close, but it was later snapped up by Llangollen town and Llantysilio community councils for just 50p each.

The council then spent £326,000 on restoring the bridge, which is thought to be the oldest chain links bridge in the world, back to its former glory.

The bridge will now help re-establish the strong link between the Llangollen railway and the canal, part of the Pontcysyllte World Heritage site.

This image shows texture with this rusty chain

Seen on a farm gate, this chain has obviously had a long and eventful life.

The chain stitch was so much fun this week, I love how textured it get's when you put the chains close together!

Rusty chains, photographed in the yard of Below Stairs Antiques, Hungerford, Berkshire

The walk way is lined with these chains which are super heavy and very cool.

White balance changed (it was a pretty blue night), tone curve adjustment and then some vignetting adding. The dark space bottom left is the chain going in front of me.

My dad and I stumbled upon this little guy while digging out our push mower from the storage shed. He had coiled himself up through the links in the snow chains for the snow blower. I'm not entirely sure what kind of garter snake this is, since there's a huge variety.

Never seen a blue chain either.
