Certificate for completing the Cisco Fundamentals of Web Design Course at Pulaski Technical College.
Obtaining this certificate took away moments of my life that I will never get back. Five hours, to be exact. The only thing I really remember from it is that you can distinguish Minors by their "fad lingo, extreme clothing, nervous behavior in adult situations" and the fact that they travel in groups. Be on the look out!
Certificates like this were given out to aerial gunners after they completed their training at Kingman Army Air Field.
Last week I got a call from a volunteer working on the scow schooner Alma, at the end of the pier. He said there was a swimmer in trouble off an adjacent pier and they were rowing over there and wondered if I could launch the motorized work boat and come help. I got there just as they did and found a swimmer from one of the local swim clubs holding an elderly man in the water, who was obviously mentally disturbed. He had jumped into the water from the pier. The water temp was 51 degrees and we weren't sure if his incoherent answers to our questions were due to his mental illness or to hypothermia. So we used the parbuckle on the motorboat to get him into the boat and took him to the beach where the paramedics were waiting, (Someone had called 911, the emergency phone number) We figured that was the end of that, but Tuesday I got a call from our Park's Superintendent who said she was called by the President of the city Board of Supervisors and he wanted me to gather my "rescue team" and report to the Supervisors meeting that day at 3.00 PM... They presented us with this. Nice pat on the back!
