Surroundings: In upper middle land, on the southern slope of Mount Ungaran. The temple group is located on the western side of the canyon, on a flattened area. The temple group is located 85m to the southwest of Gedong Songo VI and 200m to the north of Gedong Songo V.

This looks to me as a not too elaborate carving of a Kala head which motive is often found in Hindu-Buddhist temples.

Although Candi Asu doesn't seem to be ancient to me, I decided to include it here because of its proximity to the marvelous Candi Gedong Songo and because of the yoni in the center of this picture which could be originated in the Central Javanese Period.
