I just thought this looked kind of interesting. The ceiling lamp was pretty cool. :)

The ceiling lights at Nex, the shopping mall

Our Maker Faire project was a 16x8 array of nylon lanterns suspended in two canopies that filled a 20x10 foot space. Half the space contained couches for weary Maker Faire guests to relax and admire the overhead patterns shifting to music. This year was the busiest Maker Faire ever, and the couches were always full, the aisle in front of the booth was always packed, and we were answering questions nonstop.

The lanterns were lit with our new RGB LED modules, controlled by our new 8-channel LED controller, the OctoBar. The concept was inspired by our customer Alex Beim at Tangible Interaction, who used our products to light a 10x10 grid of lanterns for a 2011 New Years party. We used a Processing sketch to send the pixel array to an Arduino at 25fps. Several video effects were contributed by the community.

I was so enthralled with the ceilings in Italy!

This shows just a small segment of the ceiling paintings that decorate the nave of Ely Cathedral. These are not medieval but were painted in the 1850s and '60s. I chose a panel with an image of Adam and Eve, since it's a familiar story to most people. The snake in the Tree of Knowledge is quite inventive. It appears to be half dragon.

"The Integratron is the creation of George Van Tassel, and is based on the design of Moses’ Tabernacle, the writings of Nikola Tesla and telepathic directions from extraterrestrials. This one-of-a-kind building is a 38-foot high, 55-foot diameter, non-metallic structure originally designed by Van Tassel as a rejuvenation and time machine. Today, it is the only all-wood, acoustically perfect sound chamber in the U.S." Learn more...

so this is the ceiling in august. mind you, it started as peeling paint back in MARCH (!) when i told the landlord about it, and every time it rained there would be more paint peeling. then a crack starts to form. i tell the land lord, she says it's fine. it gets bigger and bigger until it starts pouring in my bedroom everytime it rains.......in august, when i say i'm moving out because you don't fix anything, and your not getting this months rent she says "this ceiling in FINE and it's not important, but you'd better give me my money or i'll ruin you finacially" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that's an effin quote!

The ceiling at Boma, one of our favorite restaurants at Walt Disney World. It's an African-themed buffet on the bottom level of the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Despite being a buffet, the food is always fresh and there are a great variety of flavors (plus enough standards to appeal to the kids).

The huge white flowering prunus in bloom outside our hotel. Within the blooms, there was a big square streetlight that was shorting out, going off and on like a strobe light all night long. At night, the tree looked like it was part of an extravagant light show.

Once touted as the "Pride of Wayne", the demolition of the Wayne Theatre is anything but. It opened in 1927 and is now half demolished at time of writing.

No one thing I have came into contact with during my entire life has made as much of an impact on me as the Wayne Theatre has. Since the time I received my first tour of this magnificent place when I was 12, I joined volunteers attempting to restore it. Around the same time I began to notice the great movie palaces of Detroit and soon all architecture as a whole. If it weren't for the Wayne I would have never taken any interest in Detroit or photography.

I can't help but feel melancholy over the whole situation. It is almost as if this building raised me. A piece of me is missing, and it didn't have to go. To me, this serves as another reminder why the city of Wayne will never be anything but a pathetic sprawl of used car lots and parking. This structure could have been a great catalyst to a revitalized downtown. Why not take a chance on restoring this gem instead of all the failed other attempts of brick pavers, banners, and oh, that $89,000 mural...because everyone is going to say "lets put a business in Wayne because it has a mural!."

The mirrored ceiling in a nearby casino caught my attention.

My camera caught the attention of security .... OPPS! No photography in casinos.
