I talked about it for quite a while, and I finally made my own CD lamp. Stupidly, I didn't take any pictures of the build process, but I have lots of CDs left. Version 2 is coming soon, and should be fully documented.
For those that care, the base and top are poplar, while the dowels are oak. I used very small dowels to hold the base together (you can barely see them as spots near the bottommost CD). The bottom two layers of the base are hollow, and there's a piece of round plexiglass to hold everything in. The light is a standard cold cathode tube used for case modding.
This thing is freakin' heavy, since there's over 200 CDs.
Just nth of Magaret Bay . This place is rarely visited due to it's shallow tidal flats and it being a preservation zone. We spent a few days drifting around the mangroves at high tide and trying to get shots of the big Jabiru birds at the 1/2 tide.No signs of humans but i could see the tracks of a water fowl which had laid its eggs only to have them dug up by a feral pig shortly after....makes me want to take up arms !!
