The kites were making life difficult for the mice this morning. Here are some photos of them passing above on their various hunts. Focus not great on some, this one in particular was almost in the lens (not cropped).

N1634 was one of eight Boeing 727-100s operated by Northeast Airlines- the first -100 came in October 1965 before the Yellowbird livery debuted. This model depicts the fourth 727-100 that was delivered in September 1966 and flew on with Delta after Delta bought Northeast in 1971. After a stint with Delta, she went to fly with Dan-Air London and then with Swiss-based Private Jet Services before heading to Chile to fly with Ladeco. In the mid 1990s she then went to South Africa and flew with Nationwide before getting scrapped in 2007. Interestingly Northeast flew the 727-100 transcon MIA-LAX 3 times a day. Payload restrictions were significant and while the most common fuel stop was PHX, depending on weather, especially westbound, unscheduled fuel stops were common. Often the middle seat was blocked out on the flight to ease the payload. You can bet your ass the flight crew was checking their fuel calculations as nauseum once they got over West Texas when headed to LAX!
