A cyborg, short for "cybernetic organism", is a being of organic and mechanical parts.

For at the window of my favorite, looked through casement, let the sunshine in the sunshine in.

(Basket case is an informal term for a person who is dysfunctional or failing.)

a piece of advise that i gave all my children (they still lose stuff)

My gosh, we've had a couple of dreary months! Skies have been grey, overcast, and devoid of color. I think the forecast for Christmas Eve is even calling for rain. Consequently, I went back into my archives for 2014 and found this image, which I'm posting just in case anyone, namely me, is feeling like it's never going to end.

Did this piece for the online project "Happy Journey" where artists were asked to create their own coffin art.

This mural made me think of an old song;

And when the rain

Beats against my window pane

I'll think of summer days again

And dream of you

The artwork is signed Case Maclaim. “Case” is the alias of Andreas von Chrzanowski an artist from the German graffiti scene who was born and raised East Germany.

A small selection of needle cases that I've made lately. I love playing with the colors and designs of these handy little needle cases.

See my profile for more info.

This guitar case is the best place for sleeping. My cat Pixel sleeping on the case and the other fuzzball Ozzy is right behind her. By the way this cat is huge she weighs 14lbs and easily stretches from one end to the other of the guitar case.

Last July, the Webb telescope released its very first image: the deepest and sharpest image ever seen. Zooming in on the data, scientists found 3 young, distant galaxies similar to rare, small galaxies called “green peas” in our cosmic backyard. Because the light has traveled so far to get to us, we’re seeing these 3 galaxies as they were up to 13.1 billion years ago.

Specifically, the galactic trio share chemical characteristics — oxygen, hydrogen, and neon signatures — with “green pea” galaxies. (“Green peas” resembled green dots in their discovery images.) Due to their similarities, researchers may be able to study nearby “green peas” in detail to learn more about distant early galaxies.

While Webb’s infrared vision is incredibly sensitive, in this case Webb had some help from space’s “magnifying glass.” The effect of gravitational lensing meant that the mass of the galaxy cluster in Webb’s image actually magnified these tiny, distant galaxies by up to 10 times.

The farthest of the 3 galaxies contains only 2% the oxygen found in a galaxy like ours. This suggests the galaxy is extremely young, as it contains very few heavy elements (like oxygen) recycled from earlier stars. Learn more: www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2023/nasa-s-webb-telescope-r...

In this image: The James Webb Space Telescope’s Near-Infrared Spectrograph captured the chemical fingerprints of selected galaxies behind SMACS 0723, including three faint, distant objects. When corrected for the wavelength stretch caused by the expansion of space over billions of years, the spectra of these galaxies (shown in red) exhibit features emitted by oxygen, hydrogen, and neon that show a stunning resemblance to those seen from so-called green pea galaxies found nearby (in green). Additionally, the Webb observations made it possible to measure the amount of oxygen in these cosmic dawn galaxies for the first time. The spectral lines have been stretched vertically in order to clarify these relationships.

Image description: Two different sets of spectral data, comparing the chemical fingerprints of green pea galaxies with young, distant galaxies observed by the Webb telescope. On the top is the green pea galaxies data, shown in two squiggly horizontal lines of bright green, and below that is the Webb data, shown in three lines of red. The data sets share remarkably similar line patterns representing the elemental signatures of oxygen, neon, and hydrogen. From left to right, both data sets generally start off with a high frequency of peaks and dips, which gradually taper out into just occasional peaks by the end.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I smoked pipes from age 16 - 62. Then I quit and sold all my pipes (except the Dunhills and about five pounds of my favorite tobacco - just in case).

I get a decent number of questions asking me what I shoot with, do I use X or Y or whatever... so to make it easier I recently just took a photo of what's in my camera case, and then dumped it out so folks could get an idea of what tools I use (admittedly some more than other's).

This is what I keep my camera gear in... if you want to see the contents dumped out see this photo where it's easier to see everything as in this photo there is a lot of stuff that is buried under something else.

Tech Details: If your curious how one takes a photograph of all of one's photo gear the answer is you borrow a friends camera from down the street (a Rebel XT/350D with a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L lens).

Lighting provided by one White Lighting X1600 to camera right difused through a large softbox, with Westcott 42" Silver reflector to camera right to just bring in some fill light. A short roll of White Savage Seamless just hanging off the knuckle arm of an Avenger C-Stand (easier and quicker than getting out a big background stand). Triggered by a good ole-fashioned sync cable connected to a Nikon AS-15 on the hot shoe since the RebelXT/350D lacks a PC Sync connector.
