Seismite horizon (limestone) in the Ordovician of Kentucky, USA.
This outcrop is in the famous Cincinnatian Series of the tristate area of Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana. Rocks in the Cincinnatian were deposited in relatively shallow marine facies during the Late Ordovician. The Cincinnatian succession is mostly interbedded limestones and shales. Most of the limestones are event beds (= tempestites), deposited during ancient storms.
The non-horizontal bedding of the rocks seen here is a horizon of soft-sediment deformation within the Fairview Formation. Within the interval, bedding is disrupted, folded, and chaotic. Such horizons have been called "flow rolls" and "seismites". Seismites are intervals of sedimentary rocks that have been disturbed and deformed by ancient seismic events (earthquakes). In this case, sediments were disturbed, probably liquefied, and moved/flowed. Sediment liquefaction often accompanies significant earthquakes in modern times.
Prima facie, the presence of irregularly-shaped limestone clasts in this seismite implies brecciation of lithified deposits. But it's logical to infer that the paleoseismicity only affected nonlithified deposits at & directly below the original seafloor. The presence of numerous hardground horizons in the Cincinnatian succession, including the stratigraphic units at this locality, demonstrate that synsedimentary cementation and lithification of seafloor surfaces was a relatively frequent occurrence here during the Late Ordovician. However, I strongly suspect that the apparent breccia clasts were produced by seismic disruption of semilithified sediments (firmgrounds).

Glass ball on plastic CD case. Photographed with CP (circular polarizer) filter. The effect of the lighting is from a laptop lcd monitor displaying a plain white image. The filter brings out these amazing colours and but shows the lcd as black! It is best to raise th subject a few inches above the LCD to prevent the pixels from being obvious.

CASE Farm Equipment
PRINT FOR SALE---WHAT A COOL IMAGE.
FARMERS AT HEART. This is a wonderful image of a Case machine, vintage farm equipment, that, no doubt, is still working today.
This is a Fine Art photograph which represents an antique piece of farm equipment made by the "Case" company. Case Agricultural is still making superior farm equipment, but have grown from being a small 1940's American company, to a present day worldwide distributor. This piece captures the ambiance of antique agricultural equipment.
These sheets are originals in that they were issued at the time and are not modern day photocopies or scans.
I would estimate that this sheet was issued around 1952-4
When the very big demand from Supporters for United players signatures, the club would send these out for free.
In the case of just one of these sheets that were isued via the Souvenir Shop there would be a charge for the sheet.
