Mt. Diablo
Had wanted to go on a hike after coming to the US for a very long time, but never got the chance before.
Anand got together with a group of people whom we thought were "beginners". We all were not known to each other except for me and Anand (a colleague of mine from office). We met one bunch of people at Milpitas and then another bunch at Walnut Creek.
Then carpooled into three cars (nine people) and got to Mount Diablo State Park. The state park visitor center had maps of the trekking trails and the few peaks in that park.
Mount Diablo, 3876 ft was about 7.5 miles away on the trail that we set out on and we, as I found out later, were at ~500 ft!
