"Carpet Diem" is the kind of photograph you take and edit when you are cooped up at home, hoping to avoid COVID19. It also gave me a chance to make a really awful pun.
This rug hangs on the wall right behind the desk at which I am typing. I have no idea of the rug's country of origin.
NB -This is an extreme crop of a hand-held photo taken with a Panasonic TZ-101 travel zoom. This does have a so-called 1" sensor (big for a little camera) which helped WRT sharpness even after cropping.
Location: At home in Riehen BS Switzerland.

Our Daily Challenge ... strong.
I spotted this guy on the edge of the walking path to the beach today. He had the strength to stay where he was rather than high tail it back into the scrub despite all the people taking photos. Carpet snakes or pythons also have a great deal of physical strength which they use to "subdue" their prey before swallowing them whole.
Also farmers have quite a strong regard for them as they often live in feed sheds and a quite good at keeping rodents at bay. A win-win situation really.
Sorry I have been missing in action for a while ... lots going on. Hopefully I'll be able to get back into Flickr soon.

Life has been kicking me while I'm down. I wanted to capture my emotion as it seems to be ruling my life right now.
Carpet weaving is one of the most ancient crafts in Turkey.
Village women have woven carpets for family use. A daughter had a greater chance of marrying if she was a skilled weaver and would offer carpets as part of her dowry to her future husband
Women working outside the home will spend an average of twelve hours per day in the summer months, from sunrise to sunset and about 8-10 hours daily during the winter. Weaving is done primarily when there is natural light. Women are not paid an hourly wage, but rather for the completed carpet or kilim. There are many criteria used to determine the amount she will receive such as the intricacy of the design, quality of the materials used, and if it is a carpet, the number of knots per square centimeter.

Model: Brooke Harrington
Background model: Leo Bryant
Theme: "Red Carpet and Interview"
For Miss America 2011's High Fashion Top Model, Cycle 1
SCORE: (41/50)
ELIMINATED
What is it like being in a competition like this? Easy? Hard?
Brooke: It's definitely not easy, at least for me. I remember that when the competition started and I got a perfect score during the first challenge, I felt super confident and a part for me thought that this was gonna be easy. But as weeks went by, I realized that I was wrong. It takes a lot of effort to get high scores in every single challenge, specially if you hate mediocrity like i do.
But what kept me moving forward was this huge dream that I have, I know that hard work can make my dream come true.
Who do you think is your biggest competition in this contest?
Brooke:I think that everyone is a big competitor at the moment, but out of them all I think that Betty is my personal competitor. We have similar looks and she's definitely the chameleon of this cycle!
What was your favorite and least favorite theme so far?
Brooke:My personal favorites were "Intimacy" and "Re-Creation". During the first one i had the chance to meet my actual boyfriend Leo, when that photo shoot started he was extremely nervous but as it went on, everything changed and it ended up being just magical.
And I had the opportunity to redeem myself during "Re-Creation", my first "Funky Angled Ad" was simply mediocre and that was by far the worst week for me during the competition. Some of the other girls started picking on me because I had asked for a little bit more time to finish my photo due to family issues. That's why "Funky Angled Ad" was my least favorite theme. I recognize that I felt terrible and betrayed, but I kept holding on 'til now. I think that the key is to keep it professional, and that's just what I did.
What would your dream theme be?
Brooke:My dream theme would be couture editorial! Something extravagant and high fashion, a theme where we could fully use our creativity.
I photographed this interesting character at the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey. Usually these vendors are very aggressive in trying get tourists to buy something they do not need (i.e. carpets), but this gentleman, who called himself “Mr. Carpet Man” just wanted to have his photo taken. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I had two DSLR cameras on my hip belt and he thought I was a famous travel photographer.
From Wikipedia: “Istanbul's grand old bazaar with an estimated 4400 shops lined along covered walkways. It is said to be the world's oldest shopping mall, covers several blocks and features a labyrinth of side streets to keep you lost for the better part of a day. The shops are organized around their wares, e.g. the silver jewellers are clustered together, the carpet shops are clustered elsewhere and the shoe shops are bunched together.”

... or is it a giant rug? Either way, it's getting great scrutiny from these two men at a carpet factory in Killybegs. Wonder where it ended up? And is the factory still on the go?

When photographing autumn color in Hope Valley this past weekend, the dappled sunlight and fallen aspen leaves on the forest floor really caught my eye, evoking a beautiful carpet of gold. I'm gonna be off the grid for a little while but I'll see you back here soon. Have a great October, everyone! 💛🍁❤️ www.optimalfocusphotography.com
Having a nice snooze in the sun.
"Coastal carpet pythons are aptly named, as they occur along most of the east coast of Australia. They are very commonly kept in captivity and have a variety of appearances and sizes.
The Carpet Python diet consists mainly of small mammals, bats, birds and lizards. Carpet Pythons are not venomous. Instead, they kill their prey by constricting (squeezing) it until it suffocates."
just trying out a 50mm f1.4 lens. Not too sure on the quality or crispness. This was at f2.

It's Monday so a Magic Carpet picture is called for.
Photowise I cropped a little off the right side. Most of the editing was done in Photoshop to bring up the details in her hidden face.
As to the editing I used Camera Raw for the global changes in exposure and just softened the picture just a little bit. In Photoshop I adjusting the lighting levels to achieve the current levels of saturation.
You have a Magic carpet
That will whiz you through the air,
To Spain, Maine or Africa
If you just tell it where.
So will you let it take you
Where you´ve never been before,
Or will you buy some drapes to match
And use it on your
Floor?
