An incredibly Canadian sight – canoes at lakeside (well, the inlet is actually an arm of the sea, but what the heck), ready to go paddling and sing to the loons and the beavers. A nice repeated pattern, and good colour constrast.

Inside the larger hut were two outrigger canoes and a workstand where a brooding man in a loincloth -- he couldn't (or wouldn't) speak English -- carved tikis.

The canoe is filled with water and then steamed, using red hot engine parts. Steaming the canoe widened the sides by about a foot, helping it take its final shape.
