I just bought this canoe prior to our trip ... my new 'toy' at the time. 17 1/2 feet long & only 56 lbs. indestructable yet flexible exterior (...Tim the Toolman grunting ...) Now you'll understand why I had taken soo many canoe images at the time!!
Oops... accidentally removed this from my photostream a few weeks back, and it's one of Lara's favorites, so...

Dad found canoe-shaped wooden blanks at the same craft store we bought the safety blinkers at and asked me to paint them up to commemorate his and my brother's two trips to Ely, MN for canoeing trips with the Boy Scouts.
I tinted them an oak color with thinned acrylic paint, then used a dark brown for the details. The upper one reads "First Trip to Ely - May 1996" and "AG+BB" to the left of the keys (Amy made me do it *g*) and has a sketch of two boys canoeing on it. The lower one reads "Second Trip to Ely - July 2000" and "Hi Baby!" (the first thing David said after returning home and meeting his new niece) and has a sketch of David with an oar done from a photo.
