The Japanese figured out how to make square watermelons but some people have taken the idea a bit too far.
With thanks to Karen White - her zigzag photo inspired me to try taking photos of reflections in a spoon.

My favorite treat in the whole wide world is ice cream. I adore ice cream. My second favorite treat is candy, especially anything with peanut butter in it. So when you combine my two favorites in one treat? Heaven, bliss, nirvana!!! This is Creamy Creations Peanut Butter Cup ice cream and it is so rich, decadent, and sweet that my mouth waters simply looking at this photo. I got this for my mom over the weekend and she was kind enough to share a scoop for my image... and for my tummy!
New Braunfels peeps... there is a new ice cream shop open with homemade, to-die-for, ice cream located near Creekside. It's called Tipsy Cow and half of the flavors have alcohol. The Bailey's Salted Caramel gives me shivers on the side of my face. It's sooooo good.
Simple stockinette socks, with picot cuff, knit with Lovesticks yummy self-striping merino/tencel in Candy Apple. I never tire of knitting self-striping socks, and with Summer of Socks coming up, I'm sure you'll be seeing lots more!

Inspired by the "PicADay-Xmas Style" group and today's theme of "Candy, Candy Canes, Candy Corn, and Syrup" and the movie "Elf". Elf is one of my favourite christmas movies and that scene in the movie always cracks me up.
So I thought that with the start of my new 365 yesterday it might be fun to do some random facts (plus I've been 'tagged' a few times and it's only fair!).
1. Last night I was a judge for my school's (I work at a high school) Talent Show. It was fun although a little intimidating as we had to sit on stage and act quite official. The show was great and it was fun to see so many creative talents.
2. I went to the doctor on Monday and during my exam found out that my resting heart rate is around 42 bpm! The average is around 70-85 and Olympic athletes are usually in the 30-50 range! All that running and cycling must be working :)
3. I dropped my camera remote in a cup of chocolate almond milk right before taking this shot, the remote survived!
4. Today at work I mistaken for a student by a guest speaker....not the first time it's happened either
5. The one thing I don't like about christmas.....Egg Nog. There, I said it.
6. A Muppet Christmas Carol is my favourite holiday movie.
7. One of my photos was recently asked by the National Scrabble Association to be used on their website/newsletter, I'm being paid in t-shirts. p.s. it's this shot
That's all I can think of at the moment, but I might put in some more tomorrow :)
Taken for Dogwood 52 Week 6 Candy . I used spearmint leaves as an artistic addition to the drawing and a candy ladybird.

At 3.5 inches tall, this vintage "Candy Pellets" lantern was manufactured by T.H. Stough Co. of Jeannette, PA. circa 1929. (The lamp is clear glass temporarily filled with green water for this challenge.)

"Flying Saucers sweets are small capsules of rice paper filled with a Sherbet Filling. First produced in the 1950's, these have become a retro favourite. Each flying saucer is made from rice paper that has sour sherbet, which creates a zingy, explosion that melts in your mouth:)"

Cocada is a traditional sweet in Mexico where we mix grated coconut with a lot of sugar, milk, cinnamon, vanilla and condensed milk and then baked. It can have different shapes, textures and colors.
the pot of clay, the coconut bars and the colorful zarape of thread measure between 2.5 and 3 cm high or wide
White Shoal Light
This crib style light is located approximately 20 miles west of Mackinaw City and 2.6 miles northwest of Waugoshance Island in the waters of Lake Michigan. Its candy-stripe design is among the most instantly recognizable lighthouses in the Great Lakes.
The shallows around White Shoal had long presented a hazard for vessels entering the Straits from the either the North Shore or the Manitou Passage. Lying in an east/west orientation, and almost two miles long, the shoal was so shallow that its west end broke the water's surface.
With the dramatic increase in vessel traffic in the late 1880's, the Lighthouse Board specifically identified White Shoal, Simmons Reef and Gray's Reef as three Straits-area navigational hazards requiring immediate demarcation. While the construction of permanent navigational aids was preferred, it was soon evident that the anchoring of lightships over the hazards represented a significantly more expeditious and far more cost effective solution.
This crib style light was built in 1912 at a cost of $225,000.00. In addition to a fog signal, it also had a submersible bell that would toll the number "23" to warn off mariners. This early 20th Century technological innovation was an audible precursor to a mid-Century innovation using radar, RACON, which was later installed at this location.
Because of growing freighter traffic in and through the Straits of Mackinac, this light was part of a larger plan to build lighthouses to protect ships and mariners in the area. This is one of the first three "lightship stations" of the Great Lakes. Its construction, along with Waugoshance Light, was a "major engineering feat" because of its distance and isolation from land. Until 1910, Lightship LV56 served at White Shoal. Construction for this light began in 1908: the crib pier being built in St. Ignace, and transported by ship. The keeper house was accompanied by a fog signal building that housed a diaphone, that has since been removed.

Found this old jar at a thrift store some time ago. Finally got around to making the requisite candy cane image, inspired by many flickr folks. I ran Florabella Sweet Color and Milk and Honey actions, and added a Florabella Milk and Honey texture. Then ran Rita's Web Frame It action, changing the first frame to 0 and increasing the size of the second one and selecting the color from the jar. The finishing touch was running Rita Coffeeshop's Rounded Corners action.
I am a big fan of Chelle Photography and it just dawned on me that this image is inspired by her. Please check out this young lady's amazing photography at: www.flickr.com/photos/chellephotography/

Portrait of an old candy maker. I met him on a pedestrian bridge across the black canal, we had quite a conversation. The man's been through a lot, he is ethnically Han Chinese.

A Candy Toll checkpoint around the Chomrong area of nepal. It's a bit of a local problem, but the young children avoid school in order to beg for candy and sweets along the trekking paths. Hard to resist for some people, but the sad thing is these children don't start brushing their teeth until they are around the age of 16! Our guide pleaded with us to resist.
My friend and fellow flickrista, Linda Plaisted (aka Linda's Many Muses) has had her artwork nominated for Daily Candy's Sweetest Things of 2008 in Washington DC's "Best Nest" (home decor) category.
I'd really appreciate it if you could help Linda out by giving her your vote. She's an amazing artist, fully deserving of the recognition. But don't take my word for it, go on over to Daily Candy and see for yourself.
Voting is open until January 16th. Thanks, everyone!!
