Even our parents don't escape helping out with our project. A big thanks to Steve's Mum, during her last visit she spent hours repairing our field tent with a needle and thread,
While the kids were asleep, I set up the tripod and played with the LED headlamp as a light source.
2 light sources:
- Lantern at camera right
- LED headlamp to paint light on each tent
Joy Cove, Steuben Maine
A cool September evening in quiet Downeast Maine. The tide rolls out of the flats of Joy Cove with only the Illumination of the rising Moon and the camp fire.
I'm sitting in front of the fire enjoying its warmth. Ah, life in Maine.

Photo # 718439
My favorite camping site from my recent New Zealand trip on the shore of Lake Tekapo. The Milky Way was pointing straight up so I took 8 photos vertically to create this tall panoramic.

Camp fire with drinks plates etc and the odd light trail of torches.

This photo was taken on a hike from Moffat Tunnel to Rogers Peak Lake, Heart Lake, and Rogers Pass in the James National Wilderness in Colorado. The elevation at the trail head is about 9200 feet and the elevation at the pass is approximately 11850. Much of the trail is along South Boulder Creek.

First time we've been camping this season, so was great to be back outdoors on the weekend.
Chiba, Japan
We got in late Friday night. Due to one hell of a rain storm, visibility was very low, even with the fog lights, and traffic on the interstate was slowed to about 30 mph because there was so much water on the road.
We had a very relaxing Saturday here though, and drove back this morning.
After no vacations last year, we really made up for it this year. It was great to be able to squeeze in one last vacation this summer, a trip to the Eastern Sierra with our nephew. We rented an old (but tidy and functional) trailer at our favorite campground in Bridgeport. We feasted on campfire roasted sausages, s'mores, marshmallows, a glass or two of wine for the adults, enjoyed stargazing and recounting the day's fishing successes (or near misses). And the campground had no cell phone or internet service, so we were truly out of touch. It was great.
