I accidentally left them in DC last week. The hotel shipped them back to me. I had to go to the eye doctor yesterday to get a new pair of contacts when my last pair of contacts ripped.
I will be getting new lens for this pair as well as the new pair I ordered yesterday. I paid a pretty penny for this pair.
I thought somebody might chase me off (stranger photographing kids in the park...) but I wanted to work on shutter button timing and the batter seemed like a great chance to do it.
Luckily nobody decided I looked like a pervert, and it only took me two tries to capture this moment.
Bummed about the bit of chain link from the fence, but I didn't like the severe crop needed to get rid of it.

Out in High Park to work on street photography, I couldn't help but stop to take a few shots of Grenadier Pond too. I'm really lucky to have this place a few km away.

I decided to practice shooting strangers in the park but found myself really gunshy compared to how brazen I can be on the subway.
This guy looked right at me while I was lining my phone up for the shot and I immediately felt the urge to put my phone away and move on. But then he just looked back at his book, reminding me not to be such a scardey-cat.

In the spring of 1863, Federal forces commanded by Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger occupied Franklin. Construction of major fortifications began under the direction of Capt. W. E. Merrill, U.S. Corps of Engineers, the largest of them being placed on Figuers Bluff, .2 of a mile north on the Harpeth River. Fort Granger commanded the southern and northern approaches to Franklin and was adjacent to the critically important Tenn. & Ala. Railroad bridge. The artillery within the fort saw action twice in 1863 against Confederate cavalry forces. During the Battle of Franklin. Nov. 30, 1864 the site served as Hqtrs. of Maj. Gen. John M. Schofield (commander of U.S. forces) and as an active artillery position.
